Impeachment is the only procedural mechanism in the American system of government that can be used to remove from office a president who has willfully abused his executive power under the Constitution.
Technically there are other extraordinary measures that can be taken, but these measures cannot fully address in an expeditious manner the present crisis of executive abuse of power by this president.
In my view the problem we have today is not whether the case can be made for the impeachment of the president, but rather the frivolous arguments made by many commentators and political partisans that prevent us from moving forward. Here are some of these arguments.

It doesn’t have to be any more difficult than this ... if you don’t like a President or he’s committing crimes in office - either Impeach and then Convict him - or - vote him out of office.
In Obama’s case, you don’t have the second option since he’s only got the last part of his second term left,
So, you’re left with Impeach and Convict.
AGAIN ... it’s a really simple concept ... Impeach and Convict.
The fact that you don’t want to proceed on the the basis of this simple concept in the US Constitution tells me you’re not a follower of the US Constitution.
Also, don’t be complaining how you can’t get it done, because the Founding Fathers didn’t intend to make it “easy” ... :-) ...
You are just not getting this. It’s not about charging the POTUS with a crime. It’s about locking up a dangerous person (known to be dangerous because of what is observed about his connections, intentions, and actions) BEFORE he can attack this country or its people. It’s about preventing great harm. The Constitution calls it providing for the “common defense”, and it is CONGRESS who is given that responsibility. Even to the specific point of making rules about captures on land or sea.
They have made those rules about captures. They are in the NDAA. Unless you show me where the NDAA says the POTUS can’t be captured if he is classified as an enemy combatant, then the military is to be at least as vigilant of him as of anybody.

Here in this country you don’t lock up our people to get them out of the way. Everyone has due process. For ordinary people that means being charged - with all the Constitutional protections that are involved, which allows for appropriate bail and a speedy trial.
For a person in the Office of President of the United States of America ... THAT OFFICE has specific Constitutional provisions for removing a “that particular person” from that “office”. Short of “that process” you’re not going to be able to even “touch” that person while in that office. When that person is removed from that office, then they can be handled as other average people in this country, who still have their Constitutional protections (as would that person if removed from office).
UNTIL that person is removed from the “Office of President of the United States of America” ... you’re not going to be able to even touch him in any way shape or form.
That Constitutional process is your ONLY route - besides the ballot box or the end of a term.
All these comments and you haven’t heard a word I said.
It is about NATIONAL DEFENSE, NOT about crimes or kicking out of office.
It is about making sure that Obama is captured BEFORE he can activate those Hezbollah and Hamas operatives he’s been letting into our southern border. Or BEFORE he can give away even more Manpads and missiles to the people who have sworn that they will come destroy the US once they’ve got sharia elsewhere. Or BEFORE his buddies who made the run on the bank in Sept of 2008 can do it again to send us all back to the stone ages. Or BEFORE he can bring the plague in with the invaders he’s promising to let stay here. Or BEFORE he can get Iran or North Korea to fire a nuke through the hole in our southern radar defense.

Yes, Obama SHOULD be impeached and convicted of multiple crimes. But that’s not what I’ve been talking about in this thread. In this thread I’m talking about NATIONAL DEFENSE. Specifically, how do we keep this anti-American maniac - who cares nothing for the law, the Constitution, or anybody but himself, and arms, trains, funds, hides, releases, etc people who line the Syrian road with about 400 beheaded Christians - from outright killing this nation he hates, who he has with a knife to the neck right now.
I’m talking existential threat. There is nobody who can stop him - unless somebody detains him and neutralizes the threat BEFORE he plunges the knife into this country he’s got hostage.
If there is no way to neutralize the threat BEFORE he can act to kill, then we’re dead meat - our Constitution set us up to be nothing but dead meat. I don’t believe that. And I’ve cited the Constitution to show that. Nobody has countered with any facts that actually address what I’m saying.
Your comprehension skills are as bad as always. Obama could be detained, the evidence all looked over and if found to be a false alarm he could be set loose, and go right back to the White House.
It’s no different than pulling over a driver who is weaving all over the road putting everybody in danger, and checking for legal impairment. It’s about keeping the country safe.

Oh ... I think there are the votes there to Impeach Obama. In fact there was a news report just the other day, posted here, where a Representative from the House said he thought there were enough votes to do so.
HOWEVER ... that is not the problem. The problem is not with the Articles of Impeachment, it’s with the “conviction” in the Senate. That’s the place you’re never going to succeed.
AND ... it’s not because of the GOP in the Senate that you won’t succeed. It’s because of the Democrats ... you’ll NEVER get a conviction with the Democrats in the US Senate.

Again, you are talking about a military coup. If somebody in the military has evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors committed by Obama, then they have an obligation to bring that evidence to a Representative who can prepare Articles of Impeachment. The military cannot take matters into their own hands and remove the President, even temporarily, from his position. That is a coup!
