Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Case hardened steel will give in to that?
The earlier locks shatter like glass, even case hardened.
The modern ones need a thermal roller coaster. ... they fail eventually.
Had to melt an Ingersoll off a gate years ago, the farmer was trying to be a smartass. It vanished in a cloud of sparks.
The ends of the chain where melted as well. Would love to have seen his face. :)
How long ago is “earlier,” and is this common knowledge?
Earlier= pre 1995.
Common knowledge. ...yes, here it is. Car manufacturers test their security in the uk for good reason.
K. I got mine in 2006, so I won’t worry too much. Besides, the caliber of criminals in this neck of the woods is about minus .22 ...
If a job is too difficult, they will go on by.
No Gentlemen thugs in your area?
Calibre is everything. ....22, 357, 429, 45, 50. :)

No such thing here. Just gangbangers.
We don’t even have gangbangers here - just a few redneck thieves who will open an unlocked car or occasionally break a window. Usually they don’t even bother with that, just move on to try the next driveway.
Find it amazing that in a nation where even the cat is armed that anyone even thinks of touching another’s property without a very good reason.
Stray plurals suck.
If nobody sees them open your car door, you can’t shoot them, or even yell, “Hey, get out of there!” The cats wouldn’t even bother to mention it.
Permissive parents, plus lack of ethics and what you get are bullies. And that's all the gangbangers are is bullies. Period.
Well, ganag, my joints are yelling at me, and I must obey. I’ll see you tomorrow!
Ta!
Hope you and your joints have a good night!
Hmm. "What's a joint like this doing in a gal like you?"
I slept better than I thought I would but this morning, I’m in dire need of some coffee. Then I will attempt the tub removal at a later time, when my brain is cleared from the sleep webs that still inhabit it.
It’s only 82, and though it rained in the valley last night, I don’t think we got any. The good news is that monsoons cool things down. The bad news is that the humidity takes all the fun out of it! LOL!
I don’t know if my truck will be fixed any time soon, and that’s going to suck when I have The Little Redhead with me. The good side of that is that the Nook is magically working. I have no clue how it happened. I left it plugged in for a month, and yesterday, I decided to troubleshoot it online. Imagine my surprise when I opened the cover, turned it on and PRESTO! it came to life!
At least the little girl will have something to watch; and if she brings her swimsuit I can at least squirt her. We could walk over to the city pool, but I don’t know how they would like it with me in street clothes. I’ll have to call later and get prices.
Maybe they’d let you dangle your feet in the pool and she could splash.
Back from Weight Watchers, on to the next thing. Sally had a migraine this morning; I need to find out how she’s doing, and then see if I can get to Walmart without taking all four byos and Kathleen.
I’m going to go out and work like a whirling dervish on the tubs and see if I can get rid of some of this depression. Right now, I’m not a bit happy.
****
I went out in such a hurry I didn’t post this. I emptied four tubs, put Christmas stuff in three and have some stuff to go to the garbage. And the sweat is running off me... time for a shower and a cold drink!
