No one ever thought Britney Spears' songs were untouched in the recording studio, but the singer's voice without Auto-Tune is even worse than we could have imagined.
On July 2, the unedited vocal version of Spears' track "Alien," off her most recent album, "Britney Jean," leaked — and it ain't pretty. Take a listen:

The video has picked up so much steam online that the song's producer, William Orbit, posted a statement to Facebook explaining that the track is from a vocal warm-up session, not a final take.

Agreed. I could only make it through 57 seconds. She sounds terrible.
RE: None of these teenager crooners are natural. They all sound 100% digitally edited.
Britney Spears is 33 years old and has two kids.
I use to sing semi-professsional.
I put out all kinds of notes while working out a song but, the final is on key and time.
I make up stuff as I work a song out that many times sounds like I can’t carry a note in a back pack but, there is no way I’d need AutoTune for a final product.
Go listen to any studio outakes for popular artists of the 60’s and 70’s. You’ll hear all kinds of “Ain’t right” and then the final version as the artist works out where they’d like to take the song.
When I woke up this morning, I assumed that there was the usual 0% chance of intentionally listening to Britney Spears singing.
I was wrong.

yuck. She was all worn out by the time she got out of her teens.
I saw her once on Saturday Night Live many years ago trying to sing without autotune and she was horrible.
It was after she had been caught lipsyncing and I guess she wanted to prove she could sing. She cannot. Most of the people you see on the covers of the magazines at the supermarket who are “singers” can sing.
With or without autotune that song is terrible.
I honestly did not think it was that bad. No real talent there but talent isn’t what sells, I guess. Problem is, she is running short on the other stuff that sells. (youth, hotness, dancing ability, etc.) (:
I bet that Justin and Katy and NotaLady could never sing a tune without special effects.
Blows me away that people are spending 115 (min) to 500 bucks for that show.

Poor Britney. She should study Jo Stafford for vocal lessons so she sounds less like Darlene Edwards. (Do a youtube search for Darlene Edwards. I dare ya.)

This isn’t new info...when she was on the Mouse channel there were times that tape came out of her ‘singing’ .... and it clearly had no auto tune. It is one of the reasons that I dislike most of the ‘entertainers’ who are coming up these days....they don’t have honest voices.... a few do but most are products of the old mix master

Actually it is NOT the same as American idol.
Those who compete in that contest go through a grueling audition process, initially WITHOUT any backup music.
I highly doubt that an unknown Britney Spears can even get through when she auditions.
