Eddie Murphy Will Be Back in Detroit for 'Beverly Hills Cop 4'
Rolling Stone ^ | June 27, 2014 | Ryan Reed

Eddie Murphy's headed back to Detroit in the upcoming fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise. According to the Associated Press, the state of Michigan approved $13.5 million in film incentives, based on an estimated $56.6 million of filmmaker spending in the state. The film will be shot in and around Detroit, creating jobs for an estimated 352 workers, the Michigan Film Office announced on Thursday.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 – the first in the series since 1994 – will find Murphy reprising his role as police detective Axel Foley. Describing the plot, the film office says the character leaves his position in Beverly Hills "during the coldest winter on record to navigate the new rules and old enemies in one of America's most tenacious cities."

The film will be directed by Brett Ratner (who worked with Murphy on 2011's Tower Heist) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (who produced the original 1984 Beverly Hills Cop), based on a script co-written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol). A tentative release date is set for March 2016. (No word yet on whether the classic theme song is being revived.)

If you want to see how trashed out Detroit was when they filmed the first one back in 1983 just check out the opening scene

If you are into synth 80s stuff, checkout the growing retro 80s ‘Synthwave’ scene. These kids do 80s better than a lot of the 80s guys.

Check these out:
Perturbator - “Hard Wired” “Tech Noir”
Electric Youth - “Back to you”
La Matos “The Light Again” (Feat Electric Youth)
Garth Knight - (This guy does lots of good 80s funk stuff)
Le Cassette - “Arms of Mine” “Tonight”

From there a whole world of awesome music opens up to you.

Not all USA manufacturing has been off-shored - it’s been going strong in music for quite a while.

No, but from what I hear, they’re working on that as well slated for a 2015 release.

Audie can’t do an impersonation of Stevie Wonder as well as Eddie can.

Just doing my part in spreading the love ;)

Kidding aside, there is some truly incredible stuff being done by these guys and it’s global. Lots of French and Nordic artists. Many Canadian.

More to look up

Starforce “Omniversal Oscilations”
Dynatron “Escape Velocity”
FM Attack “Dreamer”

And for a Greek chick that gives Belinda Carlyle a run for the money, check out Kristine - “Modern Love” and “Danger Zone”

For synth music (and all music IMO), Jean Michel Jarre is without peer.
