Henry Kissinger, 91, undergoes heart surgery in New York

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former U.S. Secretary of State and Nobel Peace Prize winner Henry Kissinger underwent heart surgery at a New York City hospital on Tuesday and was resting comfortably, hospital officials said.

Kissinger, 91, underwent an aortic valve replacement procedure, according to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Bravo. That’s serious surgery, not only because he’s 91.

Used to be they wouldn’t do an AVR on someone that age. Most likely he had it done by catheter, which is a fairly new procedure.

I hate it when people get old and die. I thought Henry Kissinger was going to live forever. He certainly had a way with the ladies. Kind of like a Benjamin Franklin thing going on there.

Can someone fill me in about the disdain for Kissinger? I’m too young to recall his time in the spotlight but have always heard that he was a highly regarded Republican diplomat.
