Gee, what a list of hooey .... every food produced by agriculture is GMO. No exceptions. Thousands of years ago, our ancestors invented the practice of modifying plants and animals to make them better food sources.
Hooey just be in the eye of the beholder.
Seems our ancestors modified plants by grafting, by cross pollination, by selection of desired traits/characteristics, by importing stronger plants (weather tolerant, moisture/fertilizer requirements). Surely you're not suggesting our ancestors delved in molecular mutation by gene splicing fish scales unto tomato genes to enable fruit to be more resistant to bruising.
Other nations need our food products...yet the European Union, various Asian countries refuse GMO products. I may be mistaken, but some African nations also.
Our ancestors did the equivalent of standing back from a wall and randomly throwing spatters of different colors of paint at it, hoping that within the spatters, a meaningful shape would appear.
Nowadays, we analyze the paint on the wall and change one element to improve on the shape. Then we test to make sure the shape really is an improvement over the previous shape. Our targeted methods are extremely unlikely to have the random effects of previous methods. We have the ability to change one gene at a time—an ability our ancestors never had—meaning that they were stuck with randomly changing *thousands* of genes at a time.
Besides the random mixing of genes our ancestors did with crossing various plants, plant breeders last century used radiation to induce random mutations (by damaging the DNA). That means they were using radiation to randomly make genes that never before existed. The more useful mutations were preserved, and are still used in agriculture today. Do you refuse to eat plants that were developed as a result of radiative mutation?
As I already pointed out, if you want to eat food that is NOT genetically modified, you have to go out and harvest wild plants and animals yourself. You can’t find genetically unmodified food on the shelves of your local store (or even growing in your garden).
I researched the changes in Congress that set up this boondoggle we are experiencing. The House of Reps clerk used to have detailed explanations on the activities, political environment and issues of the period. Most of it has been purged from their website.
I would love to see a research paper on the activities between 1900 and 1929 when House membership was limited to 435. During that period, the 16th amendment was passed allowing personal income taxes. Without all of the excess money, the govt. could not engage in all of the hand-outs and would not be a magnet for predators.
The 17th amendment was passed allowing for general election of State Senators, emasculating the states.
Then House membership was limited to 435 members dramatically reducing the ratio of representatives to constituents making it very hard to change these officeholders.
It would be great if these actions could be researched in greater depth to provide a solution to re-balance our ship of state and restore government of, by and for the people instead of of by and for politicians and their special interests.

Two suggestions...
1) Common Core...how the feds are removing educational control from local (answerable to the public) school boards and the states that are now dropping it.
2) Governmental fiscal numbers and how they are changing the way things such as unemployment and inflation are measured so as to provide “good” numbers. For instance inflation no longer counts food and gas. Do a chart on how the unemployment numbers would compare with the means of measurement during the great depression, and another on the released numbers the fed puts out on unemployment versus the revised numbers issued a month later. Do charts comparing inflation now versus how it would look as measured in the 60s or 70s.
How about a comparison of attitudes toward the importance of religious freedom then and now. Attitudes of our Founders v attitudes now...and the resulting effects of both?
A friend of Mine did a research project on the lies taught about evolution in current high school biology books. He procured current books from a couple local high schools and showed the “proofs” of eviction and the scientific debunking, mostly decades old debunks like the spotted moth, skeletal remains and the famous drawings of embryos that were done well before x-ray.
One of the college professors was married to a biology professor who read the paper and couldn’t disagree with any of it. He got an A

When my son asked me for ideas about topics, I remembered a Mark Steyn article about how we wouldn’t have so many disastrous power outages if electric wires were buried, instead of on poles that get blown or knocked over. There was lots to look up about costs, reliability, maintenance required, and so on. And it was hard to get too emotional about it.
