Hooray!

Maria Bartiromo and gang were just discussing "Economic Patriotism" on her Fox News Channel show "Sunday Morning Futures".

I couldn't believe it. FINALLY.

Way to go. Much more conservatives need to climb on board this important topic.

No, we need to end government policies that force companies to move investments and business offshore in order to maximize profits.

Tried watching but Bartiromo has this really annoying habit of repeatedly flashing her eyes toward the camera, while she's talking to the others on the show. Click.

Years ago while trying to make the point, both here and to fellow conservatives at my employ, I was castigated as anti free enterprise. Get what you can, however you can get it was all the rage. Now,reading the comments on the Forbes thread it seems people are finally getting what has been going on with fervor over the last 25 years. It’s gonna be hard to stop the momentum.

Years ago when I worked at NASA, someone would be showing off there brand new Japanese car, I would ask them “How are the workers in Detroit going to pay your salary if you don’t buy the cars they make”? Then they would give me that “disgusted look” as they turned around and walked away without comment.

we need economic patriotism

As long as the basic environment of the country is anti-business, which inhibits profits and capital accumulation, with high taxes, too many regulations, hatred of the rich, budget deficits, government spending, and inflation, then economic patriotism is irrational.

Sorry to put a damper in this, but it is nothing but a well-intended dream...it is a contamination of ideology from the left... anyone adhering to this has never had a seat in the boardroom. “Economic Patriotism” belongs in the marketing department...PROFIT belongs in the boardroom. You want jobs to stay here? You want to put America back to work? You don’t do it with “Hope and change” logos...you do it by causing the behavior in the boardroom (where those decisions are made), to change because it increases profit! Reduce the corporate taxes, get the unions and government out if the way of business and entrepreneurism. Anyone in a real boardroom would put as much weight to “Economic Patriotism” as they did Occupy Wall Street. Don’t fall for the do-gooder theme of the moment. Make the hard choices...reduce taxes, reduce regulation...you won’t need anything “hopy and changy”, change the business platform to increase a company’s profits and success and the desired result will happen instantly and automatically. (What Would Reagan Do?)...better yet...(What DID Reagan do?)

What Pat Buchanan has been talking about for 20+ years. Instead we have Obama/Democrat crony capitalism

Really ..?? It wasn’t Maria who was touting that phrase “Economic Patriotism” .. it was JACK LEW (another Obama stooge) .. and he was saying it because some really big companies are moving overseas to get away from the over-bearing taxes and regulations now being imposed upon them.

One of the latest is Abbott Labs .. who is moving to Ireland.

I have recorded her show .. but I did see her earlier on Fox & Friends .. and there is no way she agreed with Jack Lew.

I don’t know.

China is (rapidly) taking our place.

China is not open to free enterprise. China has laws regarding their own involvement in industries, which support China.

China was very good for global capitalism, but is now in danger of taking over. American investors, cannot own businesses (except in the minority) in China. Everything is majority owned, by one race: Chinese.

We need to focus on American industry. Stop selling everything, to a competing system.

We continue to see the world as nothing but a gigantic support for the American industrial machine.

China is becoming the world’s premier industrial country. China’s population is nearly five times America’s.

America needs to wake the heck up, and bring back American industry.

I’m completely series. We need to stop making excuses for every country but America.

We need to build back up, or own nation.

Sorry if I misrepresented.

I had the news on in the background, I might have mischaracterized the segment.

However it was on the show.

“Economic Patriotism” belongs in the marketing department...PROFIT belongs in the boardroom.

How true! Corporations don't "pay taxes", they pass them on to their customers in the form of higher prices. When our byzantine labyrinth of IRS regulations penalizes companies who have earnings abroad (as they do now), the "Smart" move is to MOVE the corporation's base to the most tax friendly international destinations!

Remember, if you want more of something you subsidize it..., if you want less of something you tax it! Obviously "our government" wants less domestic corporations since it makes "Economic Patriotism" very costly!

Some legislative patriotism in terms of taxation would also be helpful.

American jobs will NEVER return until the libtard scum are removed OR people collectively pull their ignorant heads out of their backsides and figure out that overwhelming regulation, taxation, and other forms of socialistic government extortion are eliminated on the private sector.

I completely agree.

All I am saying is, we need to look out for and to fight for, our own nation.

Someone needs to stand up for America.

You are missing the background and the CAUSE that makes companies leave the US.

Companies are being overtaxed and overregulated — and they couldn’t stay in business if they stayed in the US.

What you should be calling for is decreased regulations and taxes — THAT would bring back companies and jobs.

Currently Obama is considering to FORCE companies to stay in the US, which will result in them going out of business with even FEWER jobs left in the US.
