As I remember it, the barrel was actually cut to 18”+
but the stock was cut making it shorter than 26” thus
illegal.

Cool, but way overpriced, just like every other suppressor out there.

Silencers need to be removed from the NFA restricted list. Period.

...he had allegedly shortened a shotgun barrel just slightly under the limit.

Yep. Oh, the barrel was legal at 18.25 inches. But there's another requirement Weaver didn't know about regarding overall length, and that's the one they tried to get him on, or more properly blackmail him on. They weren't actually after a firearms law conviction, they were after Weaver to become a spy within a white supremacy organization for them.

I can see the tacti-cool types wetting themselves over it, but it will screw up the handling of any gun used for clays or wingshooting beyond repair.

I’ll pass on the $1400, but they’ll come down when the government no longer harasses people for buying them. Personally I think it’s a great advance. I’ll now be able to miss chukar quietly.

Silencers are legal if registered + $200 tax.

Weaver was accused of not paying the $200 tax when the cutting of a shotgun barrel a half-inch under the 18” limit. Seems a gov’t agent with ill intent (entrapment) talked him into doing so.

Correction, see #23. Point is he didn’t pay the $200 tax, thanks to entrapment.
