So I thought that the story of the emaciated dog who was saved for a certain and cruel death in Florida would be the best animal story for the day — and it was a great story. But this one really made my day and not because it is more dramatic — it isn’t — but because it has a positive impact on many more dogs.
It turns out that there is a company in Turkey called Pugedon which has come up with a creative and effective way to feed Istanbul’s numerous stray dogs. Pugedon has designed a vending machine which takes bottles for recycling and gives back food for the city’s dogs.

Umm....if nobody is feeding them, they should not be arbitrarily fed. They will just breed more dogs that need to be fed.
So you round them up and put them down. You don’t feed them.

What you do is round them up, then spay or neuter them.
To really control the problem, you put them to “sleep”. Otherwise, they will just continue to be problems for people.
It’s the government’s responsibility to take care of stray animals (and humans). /s
Just drop stray animals in my neighborhood. Everyone else does.
Ticks me off - we try to recapture them and take them to the shelter for shots & whatnot, but it gets a little pricey.
Irresponsible folks should not have pets or children. Sounds coldhearted, but that’s life.
Why is feeding and breeding packs of feral dogs a good idea?

Obviously they don’t have a dog pound or people who will pay for a spayed street pet.
So what do you do with the dogs?

Feeding these strays is a recipe for disaster. There are no more sincere dog lovers around than I am but feeding strays and not controlling them is a bad idea. VERY bad!
Why don’t you buy 50 lbs of purina cat chow.
Throw some out your back door, every day at the same time.

They do that at the Chinese restaurant by my house. Haven’t seen a cat in years. I’ m thinking the cats don’t like the food and stay away. As a side note, they have these braised Chinese short ribs that are incredible.

I knew a guy in south Louisiana a couple decades ago that would kill a cat, dress it and take the identifying parts off, then sell it to people who liked COON.
But I’m not trying to be a creep here.
What I said is really the humane thing to do.
Feeding strays is no more sensible then feeding wild animals. Especially dogs that are 100% dependent on humans for survival. They were bred to be that way.
Without a host, they suffer terribly and feeding them will give them a opportunity to breed and the litters will be big.
That just multiplies the suffering.
This idea is just about the dumbest thing since Obama got a second term.
If you feed stray dogs, and leave them as stray dogs, don’t you get even more stray dogs? Unless this program includes sterilization it will not end well.
And YOU are calling those who want to see the dogs sterilized or put down humanely “cold and dead inside?” Really?
