If done right this could be terrific. I know Scalzi is a left-winger but this book series was terrific fun to read.

“However, soon after John arrives, he finds himself involved with a mysterious woman...”
Let me guess, the twist is that a different 75-year old man had his consciousness transplanted into the young woman’s body?

Bummer. ScyFi has a terrible track record creating watchable content. The books were good though.

I agree that this could be great, or a disaster. Scifi had a hit back in the day with Galactica. They were ahead of the current game for quality series, but lost their way bigtime with all the wrestling and reality nonsense. Talk has been that they want back in the game.

However, soon after John arrives, he finds himself involved with a mysterious woman, and at the same time, at the center of an unraveling conspiracy involving an elite fighting force known as the Ghost Brigades.
Who find themselves in weekly battles against the likes of SyFy's usual host of sharktopuses, pteracudas, ice spiders, dinocrocs and other CGI destructo machines.

I liked the first book, but the series steadily goes down hill as his leftist views increasingly color his writing. It seems that fantasy and Sci-Fi are dominated by liberals these days.
I always wonder how people write stories about characters that fight (real) oppression, use weapons, are self-disciplined, skilled, responsible, moral and ethical, yet expouse liberals ideals which are contrary to everything they have written.
At least there is Larry Correia.

On the surface sounds like a cross between Azimov’s Foundation and Heinlein’s Lazarus Long. I’d rather watch those.

Two weekends ago I read “Agent to the Stars”’ and loved it. Just reserved “”Old Man’s War” from the library, can’t wait to read that.

They ought to start with Old Man’s War, though.
