I have been thinking.

Maybe the bug has shifted, and has some slight cases that can act as carriers.

Interesting and sad article about the late Nigerian MD.

It’s never been documented to have passaged through so many humans and undergone so much human to human passage before.

Who knows what it’s figured out in the past 2 months.

Thanks for the links to these videos. Very interesting, and the part about one of the medical workers being infected by merely touching a door handle just confirms what people such as Ken Isaacs of Samaritan’s Purse have been warning about.

Very enlightening that.

“Avoid contamination of reusable porous surfaces that cannot be made single use. Use only a mattress and pillow with plastic or other covering that fluids cannot get through. Do not place patients with suspected or confirmed Ebola virus infection in carpeted rooms and remove all upholstered furniture and decorative curtains from patient rooms before use.”

How about furniture and curtains in the ER? And their homes where they were presumably ill for a bit before going to the hospital?

“He was, simply, the best. When Dr. Brisbane was alive, no one could touch him. And when Dr. Brisbane died, no one could touch him.

He contracted Ebola from a patient who went into cardiac arrest. Ebola, a rare but deadly virus raging now in three West African countries, spreads through bodily fluids. But this patient didn’t have any of Ebola’s usual symptoms, McDonald said: No fever. No vomiting or diarrhea. No bleeding. No reason to suit up.

So when the man’s heart stopped, Brisbane went in without the full protective gear health workers touching Ebola patients should wear. He did CPR. He ventilated him. He hooked him up to the usual series of tubes and wires. “And that’s what happened,” McDonald said, tearing up, as she described the last case Brisbane worked on. “

Sounds like some victims are asymptomatic and it mimics regular old heart attacks.

“We have been unable to control the spread due to continued denials, cultural burying practices, disregard for the advice of health workers and disrespect for the warnings by the government,” she said. “Fellow citizens, these measures are meant to save lives ... May God bless us all and save the State.”

She didn’t say how long the blockades would last, or how people trapped inside would get food, water or other help meanwhile.”

“Through my work as a peace activist during the wars of the 1990s and early 2000s, and now as an organizer with communities throughout Liberia, I know how skeptical Liberians feel toward the government and international aid, given prior bad experiences.

The majority of citizens do not trust the government, which they view as corrupt, so they could not believe the whole story about Ebola when it started being told. A friend of mine said, for example, “Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (president of Liberia) and her minister of health want to pocket money, so they have come up with a new tactics to collect money and share.””
