My FR home page has a photo off the deck looking west. I can see about 50, maybe more, of the continental divide from my living room. The continental divide is around 10 miles to the west at the closest point.

Mrs p6 and I are SO jealous! WHAT A VIEW!
FWIW here is a link to our controllable webcam and WX station.

You probably have to enter admin for username, prisoner6 for password. then choose your browser. Bad time of day as the camera is probably washing out with late day sun. Works good most of the time including nights.
Weather station is here.

As you can see we are VERY limited in view. Maybe 5 miles west. It can be amusing watching the coming and going at night as well as panning into our living room.

Gordon wins at Michigan: #24-Jeff Gordon won the Pure Michigan 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway from the pole for his 3rd win of the season, 3rd win at Michigan, and
91st career win.
#4-Harvick finished 2nd followed by #22-Logano, #27-Menard, #88-Dale Earnhardt, Jr., #15-Boywer, #11-Hamlin, #2-Keselowski, #48-Jonhson, and #16-Biffle.
#14-Jeff Burton, filling in for Tony Stewart, suffered electrical issues and finished 37th.
#24-Gordon (3 wins) takes the points lead back, now 3 over #88-Earnhardt, Jr.

Michigan Chase Clinch Scenarios UPDATE: #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr., #2-Brad Keselowski, #24-Jeff Gordon, #48-Jimmie Johnson, #99-Carl Edwards, #22-Joey Logano and #4-Kevin Harvick have clinched a spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, assuming they attempt to qualify for the remaining four races.
If there is a repeat 2014 winner in the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway, any driver with one win and a locked-up top 30 spot will clinch a spot in the Chase. Potentials: #18-Kyle Busch, #11-Denny Hamlin, #43-Aric Almirola, #41-Kurt Busch and #47-AJ Allmendinger. To clinch a top 30 spot, the clinching driver must be 145 points ahead of 31st place leaving Michigan.
If there is a new winner, one-win drivers could potentially clinch a spot. But there would still be the potential for 16 different winners, and a winless points leader -- meaning a winner would be bounced from the Chase. So there are no guarantees here.
Because he is so high in the points, if #20-Matt Kenseth wins, he would clinch a spot, even though it would be his first win. Other high-ranking winless drivers could potentially clinch with a win and help.(NASCAR)(8-15-2014)
UPDATE: Assuming they attempt to qualify for the remaining 3 races in the regular season, the following drivers have clinched a spot for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup today: #47-AJ Allmendinger, #43-Aric Almirola, #41-Kurt Busch, #18-Kyle Busch, #11-Denny Hamlin.(NASCAR)(8-17-2014)

Teams to test 2015 rules changes TODAY at Michigan: Nine NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams will remain at Michigan International Speedway one additional day on Monday to test aerodynamic and engine combinations for the 2015 racing season. According to NASCAR officials, the test is designed to validate extensive work done by the sanctioning body's racing development team. Gene Stefanyshyn, vice president Innovation and Racing Development for NASCAR, said two different packages featuring various changes would be tested on the 2-mile track at MIS.
"We have a prime rules package and also will be doing a low downforce package, because some of the drivers have been very vocal," Stefanyshyn said. "They think (low downforce) is a solution ... so we're going to try one of those." The prime rules package will include the use of dive planes, a 9-inch spoiler, six-percent rear differential gear ratio, three different power levels (engine horsepower) as well as a driver adjustable track bar. Dive planes are small strips on the left and right side of the front bumper areas about halfway between the splitter and hood.
The engine changes will vary from the current 850 horsepower to 800 and 750 hp. Stefanyshyn said those changes would be made during Monday's test through the use of different sized restrictor plates in order to gauge the effects. If it is determined that less horsepower works best with the aerodynamic changes being considered, how best to accomplish that for next season would still have to be decided.
The test is slated to get underway at 9:00am/et with six different sessions scheduled throughout the day. Teams are expected to make single-file 15-lap runs in every other session, with double-file runs making up the remaining 15-lap sessions. Drivers scheduled to participate are: #1-Jamie McMurray, #5-Kasey Kahne, #10-Danica Patrick, #27-Paul Menard #2-Brad Keselowski, #17-Ricky Stenhouse Jr., #43-Aric Almirola, #11-Denny Hamlin, and either #15-Clint Bowyer or #55-Brian Vickers.(

Comcast's Xfinity negotiating sponsorship of Nationwide Series: Comcast's Xfinity is in contract negotiations with NASCAR to become title sponsor of the sport's secondary series. The company's broadband, TV and phone division is considering a five- to six-year deal valued at more than $100 million, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. The potential agreement would see Xfinity pay approximately $9 million in rights fees and $9 million in media and activation in its first year as title sponsor. Its annual spend would increase in subsequent years. Comcast declined to comment. In a statement, NASCAR said, "We anticipate NASCAR will soon be aligned with an outstanding brand that will help take this series to new heights, but out of respect for our current partner and the process, we will not comment on speculation about any potential replacements until there actually is one." Though discussions have moved into the contract phase and NASCAR executives have begun telling officials in the sport that a sponsorship is done, the deal still faces some obstacles. Fox Sports and Comcast-owned NBC Sports are slated to split television rights to the series from 2015 to 2024. Sources said that Fox, which did not respond to requests for comment, wants assurances that Comcast will spend equally on advertising across both of the series' rights holders, Fox and NBC, and not favor its own company, NBC. NASCAR and Comcast are addressing other category issues as well. Provided those issues are resolved, the deal should close and be announced in the coming weeks.(
