Going on the books I’ve read by Jakes, he’s driven by emotionalism that’s often tempered by good sense.

In this case, emotionalism wins, because he’s a True Believer in racial profiling, in the sense that it’s totally wrong and totally out of hand and leads to the death of innocents shot down by cops.

Granted, I believe racial profiling happens myself, but I’m thinking racial profiling in the sense that blacks are more likely to be pulled over in a lot of neighborhoods for little stuff. But the problem there, IMHO, is that they are unfortunately identified with idiots who happen to look like them, and the solution is to rein in those idiots. I also don’t buy that cops are gunning down black innocents in large numbers.

I’ve also been hearing about cops killing innocent young men, black or white, for years, because it’s a big deal in libertarian circles, and nearly every supposed example of cops supposedly over reacting that I have looked into, the person stopped was the one who initially escalated the situation, and the cops had good reason to shoot. (Cops killing dogs for no reason, and cops doing stupid stuff in no knock raids, and SWAT teams being completely stupid, OTOH, seems to happen with depressing regularity.)

The one time the cops did not have good reason to shoot, IMHO, was when Michael Bell was pulled over in Wisconsin — one cop yelled, “He has my gun”, and another cop essentially executed Bell on the spot. Had Bell actually grabbed the gun, shooting him would have been legitimate, IMHO. But since subsequent evidence showed that the cop’s gun belt had been caught on a broken mirror, it was a tragic mistake. Bell’s violent resistance still created the situation, and to me he still shares responsibility for what happened. But from a Monday quarterback perspective, that shoot was not justified.

Michael Bell was white. The disagreement here is not racial; it’s about responsibility and what that means.

I will never forget Channon Christian and Christopher Newsome nor the Wichita massacre in 2000. And until black people like Holder, Jackson and Sharpton are willing to talk about those murders and the knock-out games that have been going on for the past 8 months, I don’t want to hear one more word about racism. Brown’s death was probably a blessing to the people in the neighborhood who most likely were accustomed to his thuggery. One less criminal in this world is no great loss.

These people are blind to the faults of their children and in their blindness lead their children to believe that they can do no wrong even when they get into lives of drug addiction and dealing, robbery, gangs, and violence.

By refusing to take responsibility for the filth in their neighborhood and by blaming all their problems on Whitey, they are doomed to lives of increasing heartbreak.

Sorry life is so tough, but it is what it is and only you can improve your lot in it.

No amount of protesting, looting, and tears can really make a difference until you decide to take control of your lives and clean up your neighborhoods by holding your children accountable for their actions.

You know what really ticks me off about these idiots is they protest to make it look like the cops are these fascist racists and then when election time comes around who do they vote for? Fascist racists.

Only by completely ignoring the actual facts of the case can they riot without penalty when “shocked and stunned” by a not guilty verdict for the cop.

Your death is my failure”.

Was Saint Michael left handed and something does appear to be in that hand.

Not necessarily...his right hand just happened to be full of the $40 worth of cigars that the store clerk was trying to prevent him from stealing. The store clerk lost that round...but the gentle giant lost the bout in a knockout.

Unless the cop can present photos of injuries (actually,a medical report and x-rays might be as good) that are at least as graphic as were George Zimmerman's photos he's toast.

Good God...the beatification of this clown continues.

Hopelessness abounds this group who thinks he was a “victim”. Yeah that got him really far in life. Even further in death.

Your son was brutal to an older slight man, and roughed up an officer of the law. Your son didn’t need protecting. People needed protects FROM your precious little 6’6” baby.

I can guarantee you that white cops shoot more innocent pet dogs than they do black males. Guaranteed.

Another cousin, Cal Brown, said the slain 18-year-old “was a kind, gentle guy.”

Pretty sure the store owner that Brown strong armed and robbed, shortly before Brown was shot, would disagree.

His son DID need protecting,

in the form of a guiding, mentoring father that lived in the same house, married to his mother.

The odds of Big Mike getting shot by a police officer would have been diminished to nil.

you could have protected the kid ...

by raising him such that he wouldn’t be robbing a store or beating on a cop.

get a freakin grip. the parents are at fault as much as the society that told him he was a victim.

brown was also at fault because... he was 18... an adult.
