I really hate to read this. I know people, severely outnumbered white people, who live in and around West Point.

One time I was on a road trip with the family, and we got off the highway to grab dinner. When I saw the place was predominantly black, I got us back in the car, got back on the highway, and went another couple of exits. Not ever going to chance it.

According to the article, they (victim and friend) left the Waffle House and were apparently followed by 20 people, who jumped him when they stopped further up the road at a Huddle House.

Seriously, were these guys looking for a fight? Why not go into a biker bar, give the biggest, ugliest guy there a “wet willy”, then yell out “Harley Bikers Are Homos!”

Seriously, anyone can go to any big city in the world and find an open all night place full of denizens willing to stomp on them. Invariably alcohol is involved.
The police chief may actually be correct in this case, as the proximate cause is much less race than it is dumbass.

The crucial difference is that, if it were a black man stomped by 20 whites, thousands of blacks would descend on that location, burn down the establishment where the attack occured, burn down half the town, and the MSM would cheer them on.
I wouldn’t do it today, but in the past I have made a ‘mistake’ by going into a bar and seeing it filled with ‘brothers’. Being a ‘hardheaded’, bullet proof dude, I would order a beer, pay in cash and leave.
Now, being ‘all of the above’, I never did drink beer out of a glass and preferred bottled Bud over canned.
When the bartender would put the glass out, I would ignore it and get a few ‘stares’...
After ‘chugging’ it, would ‘bid adieu’ and hit the bricks.
Oh, I would do the same if I were normally dressed and ‘stumbled’ into a biker bar.
It is a good idea to not hang around where you are not ‘wanted’ and the only umbrage I take is when I can’t/don’t/didn’t get the 2nd beer but I never thought to take it up with the Courts or ‘Civil Rights’ Groups.
If you are ‘old enough’ to remember cities with ethnic neighborhoods the above policy was usually used in ANY neighborhood bar... I was the ‘stranger’ and outsider.
When decent people finally have enough of this, though it may be brutal it will end fast ... bullies really don’t like to be bullied (or dispatched for that matter).
