Silliness, just a few days after a tragic accident. What else would they expect?

Almost certainly yes, but putting a machine pistol in the hands of a little girl is Darwinian.

Depends on maturity of the child. Kids can handle guns, others can not.

I would rather they be instructed by adults than other kids.

There was a similar accident a few years ago in which a child died. Uzi accident.

But I think the antis will use this as a tool to end ALL firearms instruction, and end firearms ownership in a generation and a half.

The current brainwashing in schools (shut the school down in a panic if someone says “gun” is bad enough.

They never run these polls when a kid protects themself or their family with a gun.

I wonder why.

A 9 year old gets a BB gun or single shot .22, not a UZI.

Yep, some serious bad judgement there. The fool died however, the little girl has to live with it for the rest of her life. Sad story, but the nannystate is not the answer.

Allowed? How about asking if there might be times when allowing a particular child to handle a particular weapon might be very unwise?

“They never run these polls when a kid protects themself or their family with a gun.”

That would be counter to The Message.

Received my first .22 rifle when I was 7, started shooting competitively when I was 9. My firearms have still killed fewer people than Ted Kennedy’s car. Even after 28 years as a Weapons Specialist in the military.

Gunner

I agree, but the antis will use this to end firearms ownership. Or try to.

Never let a tragedy go to waste.

CNN poll. That says it all. Truth is not the objective of anything CNN does.

CNN trying to take advantage of the tragedy of the 9 year old.

Freak accidents will happen and yes he should have been more careful, such as holding the gun to start with to see if she could have handled it.

Daddy started us off on a .22 bolt action. He probably would have used a pellet gun but they were not available in our area.

I started my Daughter off with a low powered air rifle, then a medium power air pistol then a .22 single shot.

One day maybe 40 years ago, I took a bunch of my Nieces and Nephew down to the creek on my parents land. Some had never fired a gun but we all had good safe fun.

My Niece wanted to fire the .44 Magnum. I told her I didn’t think that was a good idea but she insisted so I let her. She was around 5’7” and runner up in a state beauty pageant. She was also surprisingly strong.

I told her how to aim, squeeze the trigger and to hold the gun tightly but not like you are trying to strangle a weasel. Don’t be afraid of the recoil and allow it to roll in your hands.

With eye and hearing protection, she fired all six shots and wanted to shoot more but I had to let others have a go too.

The vast amount of our shooting was with a .22 bolt action and pellet rifles.

Yep, had a .22 Bolt Action Rifle and a Single Shot .410 Shotgun when I was 8 Years Old.

Kept them in my Bedroom Closet.
