Johnny Carson's Practical Joke on Joan Rivers - Margaret Thatcher Impressionist
That was good. Thanks!
That’s very funny! Thanks, beaversmom.
You’re welcome, lp. :)
You’re welcome. :)
I absolutely remember when this was aired!!!!!!
Johnny had Joan on his show later and she slapped him off his barstool!
In today's world with most everything in the toilet, it's good to know that we've been allowed to laugh no matter the circumstance.
That has been one thing that has made Americans stand out so much in the world, that we can laugh at ourselves and others from time to time, that life in the US hasn't been so dire that our collective sense of humor is still in tact.
You are right. She knocked him off. ;)
I know some people probably think Joan was mean, but I always kind of liked her humour. One of the few female comedians that I have enjoyed. I think she was funny, smart, and strong. I’m sorry she had to leave too soon. It wasn’t like she was sick; although, I still don’t quite know the circumstances of what happened.
And you are right about us Americans. It does set us apart. Not too many comedians in the Muslim world.
She was on stage the night before her surgery. It was throat surgery of some sort. Not sure about that detail.
Amazing woman.
So sad. You know she could have gone on for another 10, 15 years or more. Who knows?
Drudge had a link to an essay she wrote about her rift with Johnny Carson. It is worth the time to read.
Very special person.
Thanks...I’ll have to check it out.
I know... Betty White is 92 and still performing; George Burns kept on until around age 98 and died at 100, Bob Hope performed until 95 and lived to 100.. Bob Barker is 90 and is still active with his Spay & Neuter charity for animals and has been appearing in a soap opera over the past few months...
Didn’t see it linked on Drudge, but found this:
Joan Rivers: Why Johnny Carson “Never Ever Spoke to Me Again”

Is this the one?
Yeah, she made it to 81! She seemed like she was healthy. I think she might have had longevity in her genes, but not in the stars.
That’s it.
Her husband and manager, Edgar Rosenberg, fell into depression after a heart attack and committed suicide in 1987. Ms. Rivers became estranged from her daughter, Melissa. Bookings dried up, and her career seemed to be on the rocks. But, struggling with grief, Ms. Rivers.. fell back on the resilience of laughter... As she told widows at a lecture billed as a grief seminar some years later: Think positive. Make a list. One, I dont live in Bosnia. Two, I never dated O. J.
LOL...laughing at her things to be thankful for list. :)
