BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The Apple announcement. Do you want to hear my predictions? I don't know anything. Nobody does. There are rumors from sources all over the place and some of the sources have credibility, some don't. But there are certain things that are known. You're gonna get two phones announced today, and probably both will go on sale on September 19th, 4.7-inch screen, 5.5-inch screen. But that doesn't even cover half the news of the new phones. IOS 8 will go to gold master today, will be available to the public a week from tomorrow, is my prediction.

And iOS 8 is awesome. IOS 8, when they released the new upgrade to the Macintosh, which is Yosemite, they ought to do it on the same day. They won't, but they should because they've got a new thing called Continuity that unites the phones, the iPads, and the computers in amazing ways. But apparently Yosemite is not gonna be ready until October when Apple will have another announcement to introduce whatever's new with the Mac.

There might be a new iPad introduced today. If so, it will be a minor upgrade with a touch ID fingerprint sensor on it and a "home" button and maybe a little lighter and a little thinner, nothing more major, which, since it's not a major thing they might get it out of the way today rather than a special iPad event in October, make the October event strictly Mac. Apple TV, who knows, probably next year, not ready today because they don't have a deal with TV content providers. Unless there's a giant -- I mean, there's all kinds of surprises coming today.

Mayo Clinic supposedly on stage to help Apple introduce the new health app. This could be big. ABC News is doing a special tonight at 6:30 on historic occurrences at this Apple thing today. An historic event happening. ABC's promoting it. Now, keep in mind ABC is Disney, and Apple, Steve Jobs' widow, is the largest Disney shareholder. Bob Iger, the Disney CEO, is on the Apple board. So there is some synergy there.

But ABC is hyping this, whatever it is today, as historic with a special tonight at 6:30. People think it's the new mobile payments thing. If that's true, Apple today will begin to obsolete the credit card, and you will pay at point-of-sale with an app on your phone or whatever this thing that's being called the iWatch. And I, you know, let me tell you something. I have no idea what it is. If ABC's billing this as historic, there's more than a couple of bigger phones and a watch going on here. I mean, a watch is a new product category. What's historic? Mobile payments might be historic.

This is something that Google has tried, it hasn't worked. PayPal, it hasn't taken off. Apple comes in, they don't start something. They wait until something gets going and they come out and improve it and make it better than ever. Mobile payments, phones, iPads. Well, that was a new category. The watch, everybody's out there trying the watch and failing at it. Who knows what it is. These are just my predictions.

If the new phones are your big deal, I think a week from Friday they'll go on sale, 4.7 in plentiful supply, 5.5 will be tough to get like last year's gold iPhone 5s. But you'll be able to get one if you know somebody like I do. (laughing) Other than that, we'll just have to wait and see.

Apple's live streaming it today, and I bet if this were on television, it would rate as high as Obama's speech on ISIS tomorrow night, if it were in prime time. That's how much eager anticipation there is for this thing. It's been an incredible hype job. Mayo Clinic reportedly on stage. They are a signatory already to the Apple health app. You know, this is the thing that tells you you're out of shape. I won't need it. I already know that. But a lot of people are going nuts over the health thing, and apparently Mayo Clinic is going to be there on stage helping to introduce whatever this is.

Mayo Clinic's not insignificant. That's pretty big. Apple with Mayo today, exactly right. They've invited, by the way, for you watch people, Apple has invited fashion industry elite as guests to this thing. They're not there for phones. They're not there for iPads. No, it's not gonna be a typical looking watch. I'm not even sure it's going to be a watch. With ABC hyping this as historic, phones and watches and stuff are not historic. So we'll just have to wait and see like everybody else.

I’m watching (no pun intended) the Apple Watch pitch. I really wonder if there is a big market for this sort of device. I wouldn’t use one if it was free. Just not for me. Love my iPad. Love my iPhone. No iWatch or Apple Watch for me.

I predicted some time back that they were going to go for the health market. As it is, they are interfacing with a lot of health products I already use at home: weight scale, blood pressure, etc. Each can be sent to your doc or hospital.

I love their pedometer on their iPod ... the best I’ve ever used. They just introduced a pedometer that is used on stairways. Nike has shoes that interconnect with their health apps. They will become more sophisticated in time.

Also, I just bought a new house a few weeks ago. Everything in it is computerized and connects to my iPhone. The front door lock, the cameras filming people at the front door. Being able to give a friend a one-time pass to my front door, turning on my lights, AC, washing machine and garage door from my front door ...

Now all of that and more on the watch. Also, my home is hooked up with cameras that show up on my iPhone. All of that is now and more in the future for the phone and the watch, i predict.

Do I have to have the watch? Dunno.

It’s cute that you can send a loved one two REAL beats of your heart which your watch is monitoring at all times.

So you like the government being able to hack into your house and watch you and control your theromstat... and please don’t say they can’t. If it is wired someone can gain access.

I carried a pedometer for years and they were unreliable. Sometimes I'd be just driving my car and it would record 1,000 steps just from the car motion. Plus I was replacing them all the time because the pendulum mechanism or battery eventually gives out.

Since getting the pedometer app on my iPhone, it's been flawless. It even logs a history of my daily steps (I try to do at least 10,000/day - which is around 5 miles).

Looking forward to the products being announced today. Everything Apple has put out in the past 10 or so years has been spectacular. I know people like to complain about Apple having liberals work for them but you find the same at Microsoft as well. It's just good to have an American company innovating and putting out great product.

I agree with you, Sam. For all the reasons you mentioned.

Apple haters often seem pretty insecure. I have to use Microsoft all day long, so I know what I’m missing. I come home to my Apple.

Yes, I have many discarded pedometers ... but Apple’s has been terrific.

But your watch wasn’t designed by Jonathan Ive. It’s stunning, not clunky-looking. Wish it would be available for Christmas gifting.

RUSH has been and is such a SHILL for Apple. He NEVER mentions the problems with their products, or how propriatory, restrictive and exorbitantly expensive their products are. Neither does he ever mention how limited and restrictive they are in regard to adding any kind of additional memory via mini sd cards.

Every time Apple comes out with a "new and improved" phone, etc... RUSH blathers on about how "great it is"! Yea; tell that to all the people who ran out to by the Apple IPhone 4s and other Apple products that turned out to be dogs, on his recommendation).

Apple must have given RUSH a sweet stock option deal or some other special "perks" to so blatantly hawk their schlock on his show for so many years. If not, the guy is heavily invested in Apple's stock on his own so it is to his advantage to push their products in order to drive up the worth of his investments.

Sadly, I have learned over the decades of formerly listening to him:

The bottom line for RUSH is:"the bottom line" = money.

EVERYTHING else takes a back seat to that as is evident by the way he runs his show: Endlessly hawking his books, ties, tea, clothing... the list is endless. His "show" is now more about commercials for... "fill in the blank" than it is about proclaiming the truth and informing the public.

The kicker is the overwhelming majority of RUSH's "show prep" appears to come from Free Republic because 98% of everything he talks about we have already read hear on FR anywhere between 6 to 8 hours and up to two days or more before he reports/discusses the "stories" on his RUSH infomercial program.

So who needs RUSH when one can be so well informed by reading the news and articles here on FR, way before RUSH ever gets around to talking about them when he isn't too busy hawking his brand of STUFF or breaking for commercials.

It is unfortunate how quickly RUSH's show has gone off the rails from what it used to be.

Talk is cheap, but RUSH has turned it into a gold-mine art form; a money making machine. I am sure it is good for his "bottom line" but he is no longer the RUSH of old.

Hawking Apple... yea that's the ticket.

I thought that about the iPad, and Apple proved me wrong.
