Last really worthwhile Apple purchase I made was my G4. (Computers...remember when they made those?) I still use that thing—great machine.
Then I bought laptops after that. It’s been nothing but headaches with those and they are increasingly difficult to service.
25+ years with Macs and I never want to buy another again.
Motorola has had a Droid watch out for a while, now. My moto X is made in America, 1/2 the thickness as my mother’s iphone, with a bigger screen and a longer battery life. Apple is just responding to stuff already in the Android market.
What's so difficult? My daughter spilled a drink in her Mac laptop. I had her send it to me, isolated the problem quickly and swapped in a new keyboard for $100. Instructional videos are everywhere on the Internet, as are parts. A neighbor had a problem with his, and I swapped out his power inlet jack for $20 (he had broken the tip off the power plug and fried the jack, this was pre-magnetic plugs). I've even swapped out laptop screens and backlight tubes. Easy.
Battery life not addressed at unveiling.
Best competitor watches with B&W screen last 3-4 days, all other competitor color screens are lucky to get 1 day.
Sounds like being plugged in is a way of life!

I thought that about the iPad, and Apple proved me wrong.
++++
Not me. I had an iPad 1 in my hands the day before the official release. It’s getting a bit old. I’m going to buy the next one that comes out, hopefully next month.
Hackers have noticed.
Why don't you prance around more in the nude?
And that's how the coming generations will be controlled: by limiting information.

Given the recent incident with the iCloud getting hacked - not to mention the intentional security loopholes that are present in the iOS software - I wouldn’t trust ANY of my personal data with ANY of Apple’s products.
We already know entities like Facebook sell the data they collect to various interested parties. How would you like it if your health data was sold to various insurance companies who then used it - without your knowledge - to alter your healthcare premiums?
I don’t put sensitive items in the cloud.
Disgusting comment from a disgusting person no doubt.
Replacing a keyboard is easy? I’ve been misled then with everything I’ve read. I did basically the same thing as your daughter...a few errant drops and fried a row of keys.
Do you remember where you got the new keyboard?

Thanks for pretty well summing up what I’ve been thinking for a long time. :)
Well, isn't that special. Metrosexuals will love them.
You can find them at a lot of places via the Internet, I bought from eBay. There were Chinese sellers selling for $45 to $80 or so, but I didn't trust them as being absolutely new and Apple certified, some looked recycled. I bought from eBayer I2repair in New York. Totally brand new. White ones are cheaper, the black one cost me $109 with free shipping. There a various videos out there on opening the case and replacing components. Hardest part was separating the top lid around the keyboard from the bottom case, used a couple plastic credit cards and plastic tool just like opening iPod cases. Once you do it once, it's easy next time. Note that Apple would charge several hundred or more if out of warranty, which is the case of my daughter's laptop. Why pay them if you can do it?
Incidentally, eBayer I2repair sells other new keyboards from $27 and up. The one I bought is an older model which is probably why it cost a hundred.
this is a tech post. I can’t imagine what your trying to say or why your saying it to me.

If you’re going to repair anything on a Mac go to https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac
They are impossible to fix without these guides. OK, not impossible, but tossing them through a plate glass widow doesn’t count as fixing.
They often have links to parts also.
I understand.
A mere etiquette, not being full of myself, which seems to be lacking in many these days especially on this forum.
