Rodger Goodell -- He graduated from Bronxville High School where, as a three-sport star in football, basketball, and baseball, he captained all three teams as a senior and was named the school's athlete of the year.
Paul Tagliabue -- Tagliabue received an athletic scholarship to play basketball at Georgetown University and was captain of the 1961-1962 team.
Alvin Ray "Pete" Rozelle -- He graduated from Compton High School in 1944, with Duke Snider, lettering in baseball and basketball. He was drafted into the Navy in 1944 and served 18 months in the Pacific on an oil tanker.
Condi Rice -- Rice began to learn French, music, figure skating and ballet at the age of three.] At the age of fifteen, she began piano classes with the goal of becoming a concert pianist. While Rice ultimately did not become a professional pianist, she still practices often and plays with a chamber music group.
Former Auburn head coach/athletic director Pat Dye was asked during a radio interview about Rice, who was born in Birmingham and whose father was a long-time Alabama fan, being a part of the committee. Suffice to say, Dye is not a fan of a move that hasnt even been officially announced yet.
All she knows about football is what somebody told her, Dye said. Or what she read in a book, or what she saw on television. To understand football, youve got to play with your hand in the dirt.
I love Condoleezza Rice and shes probably a good statesman and all of that but how in the hell does she know what its like out there when you cant get your breath and its 110 degrees and the coach asks you to go some more?
What organized athletics did she participate in?
“What qualifies Condi Rice to run the NFL?”
Read her bio, Sport... much more impressive than the other two.
If she was a white male, you’d demand the hire.
If you compare the bios of the past and current commish with hers, and you still feel that way, reason, along with Condi, takes a back seat on your tour bus...
good post... wondering the same thing. Some people have a highly inflated view of themselves.... but, takes all kinds, right?
“And what round was Goodell drafted in. I bet Condi Rice is a better athlete then the last few commissioners combined. I nominate this poster as Mongo of the Day.”
I second that nomination, though we better hurry, as others will give him a run for the title.
unbelievable... you left out all the experience that matters from Condi’s resume...
Do you work for the DNC? MSNBC?
A severe case of selective memory and reporting.
You’d probably would have said many years ago...”Ronald Reagan... a ‘B’ movie actor... what qualifies him to be president?”
I think a lot of her detractors here are unaware of her educational and employment background.
I don't think there is ANYONE in the NFL establishment that could honestly compete with her......
Do CFR hacks have to be involved in football, too?
The person said he was unauthorized to release the video but shared it unsolicited, because he wanted the NFL to have it before deciding on Rices punishment.
Also what is it with all these extra-judicial punishments lately? Is this how due process is eliminated? If you are simply accused of something by the right group you lose your job, your team or whatever? I am not supporting him or any others. I just think it's a slippery slope that we have started down, starting with the Clippers. What's wrong with simply throwing Rice in jail after a fair trial and be done with it? Why should the league be responsible for law and morals enforcement? Who's morals, what laws should they enforce? Should they have a workplace trial? Rice, would have been drummed out of the league regardless, whether he went to jail or not. His popularity would have plummeted and he would have been history.
“I see that you listed “woman” and “African American” as qualifications. Why is there always a rush to out minority the other side. How about just straight up qualifications? What? We can’t find someone with Condi’s qualifications that’s not a gay muslim too?”
Take away the “woman” and “African-American” and what do you have... a PERSON who is more than qualified to run and deal with the growth and problems of a major corporation, most certainly the NFL. Google her bio, compare it to the current and previous commish’, put blinders on your sex and race radar, and you will agree.
The others only wish they had her resume.
I think that people are just tired of all the political correctness that invades every facet of our lives and that dictates Goodell should be fired because he didn’t “do the right thing!” And, that some black woman is the politically correct solution to the manufactured hysteria.
Youd probably would have said many years ago...Ronald Reagan... a B movie actor... what qualifies him to be president?
Reagan was a two time governor of the most populous state in the country. How can you compare Rice to Reagan? The better example would have been our community organizer President with two years in the Senate.
If Rice or Obama had a different skin color, they would have never been considered for the offices they have held or hold. It is all tokenism, which is why we have Holder and Jeh Johnson.
