13 Years Since September 11: If You Don't Take Time To Remember, You Forget
Forbes ^ | Todd Essig

Thirteen is often said to be unlucky. There are all those elevator buttons jumping from “12” right to “14” to eliminate the possibility of an ill-starred choice. And fear of the number even has its own fancy sounding phobia, triskaidekaphobia. But this year, in downtown New York as well as elsewhere I am sure, thirteen is a special number because it is the 13th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. And for those of us still around who can note the day, we must consider ourselves lucky.

My husband trained with many of the firefighters that were killed. He was, on 9/11/01, and still is, a firefighter in a different NY city.

I was sleeping when the first plane hit because my baby daughter decided to sleep in, which was a luxury. My husband was at work. I didn't keep my cell near my bed “way back then” because I didn't want to be disturbed if my daughter was asleep. But my phone kept ringing and ringing. I finally got up, went downstairs, and answered. My my father was saying “we're under attack!” I was sleepy as I said “What?” My father was military and a long time firefighter, then retired. Only one plane had hit. But he knew. I turned on the TV, thinking maybe he was over reacting. And then the second plane hit. He hung up with me to call my brother, a Marine. My husband called, and my daughter woke up.

My father passed away not that long afterward. When I think of 9/11, I think of my father. In his position he had to go to some meetings about defense of your city, or something like that a few weeks later. It seemed so unreal to me. But I will never forget, how could anyone? I remember being glued to the TV--even watching MSNBC for a while! I also remember thinking thank God we don't have President Gore!

This town hall meeting took place Sep 10, 2001 in Amherst Mass 12 hours before the first plane struck the towers in New York City, before the Pentagon was hit, and before Flight 93 was taken down in a suicide dive by the terrorists who were beign overrun by brave Americans.

This video is significant because of the statements made at the 40 minute to 50 minute mark and again at the 1 hour 10 minute mark which were in response to comments made at the 45 minute mark.

Keep in mind this was made 12 hours before the World Trade Center was attacked on 9/11.

“If you don’t take time to remember, you forget”

Unfortunately, Americans had already forgotten by 2008 with the election of Barack Hussein Obama, a good Muslim name.
He never fails to defend Islam; if only he would defend America and Christians.

Its hard to forget the single event that turned a once free country into a police state. All those poor people who died should have inspired us to stay strong and free but instead we got scared and traded off our personal freedoms for a false security. Everytime I see a DHS vehicle I think of 9/11 and what it was like before.

Dear God

On this thirteenth anniversary of that terrible day, please keep us safe and bless all those innocent Americans who lost their lives on that day. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of Your Son that they may share in the joy of Your heavenly kingdom forever.

NEVER FORGET

Click here for the fantastic, moving website memorial created by a survivor of 9/11, Steve Golding of New York City. It is the most viewed of all 9/11 memorials. It is now in the Smithsonian Museum. Music by Enya.

Or Try this one

There are many sites that carry this most famous of the 9/11 memorials, the Steve Golding memorial. After so many years some do not work. If neither site works, look up 'America attacked 9/11." It is well worth your time. It should be required viewing for every American. Be prepared for a good cry.

The second site carries a 'message' and a description of 'that day' in his own words from the creator of the website, Steve Golding, and reference to the Pentagon attack. Be sure to see them. Very powerful.

Steve, may God rest his soul, has since died from respiratory disease sustained on 9/11. God bless you, Steve- and thank you for leaving us this wonderful and moving memorial to the heroes of 9/11.

Read Steve's message to Americans and the 9/11 attackers here
And read Steve's account in his own words of 'That Day' here
