Ridiculous. Yes, let me fire my gun in someones direction and if the bullets hit and kill them well by God I’m just being negligent.

Try shooting repeatedly through a bathroom door behind which is a screaming woman — and killing her.
If you or I did that we would be locked away for decades.

His whole defense stinks. It’s a black judge vs a white guy. All sorts of stuff would be said if she said it was premeditated by the MSM there.

I think the negligent ruling is roughly equivalent to manslaughter here. The prosecution failed to prove deliberate murder, so this is what they are left with. He is still at risk of a very long prison term.

I didn't follow this closely but a thought that occurred to me...that's *important* to me is...the guy has no legs.It seems that he sleeps without his artificial legs on (don't know if that's typical for amputees).South Africa, including its affluent areas, has a crime rate that makes Chicago or Guadalajara look absolutely idyllic by comparison. His story about thinking that there was an intruder is very plausible to me.It may or may not be true but it has a greater ring of truth to it than do most excuses defendants offer.

The prosecution didn’t have a leg to stand on. Okay, okay, I am embarrassed about this post.

Negligent? What was the negligence - he fired too many rounds?

His lawyers must have cost a fortune — who is going to foot the bill?

Are you saying the case didn’t have legs?

Tough time for the man, but I'm pretty sure he will land on his feet.
Oh wait...

If someone was shooting at me in the bathroom, you’d be hard pressed to tell me from a screaming woman.
Seriously, I want to believe that he just made a dumbass mistake. South Africa is a dangerous place, houses get broken into and occupants killed all the time.

Brace yourself for this...I suspect he was enraged with her locking herself in the bathroom and said, “you come out now, or I’ll start shooting”

My guess is that the whole episode was the result of a drug soaked night with a little anger thrown in.

In the same circumstances, same fear of a real danger of violent home invasions, if you woke to what you thought was a sound of an intruder in the night, and you had someone like this beautiful woman sharing your bed, what would be your first thought as to who to protect? For me, shooting through a bathroom door and not considering her absence from the bed is a poor deflection of culpability and outright admission of a dereliction of duty, at best, murder at worst.
