Did Bammy really assure that the USAF would not be asked to put boots on the ground in Iraq?

Does the USAF even had designated ground combat troops?

I had a beautiful pair of jungle boots. They were nearly rotted through.

No boots, but lots of thongs on the ground.

I don’t know what he said...but if he did he won’t be keeping that promise. Most of the advisors going over will be TACP and JTAC...

>>>USAF doesn’t generally put boot on the ground in hostile territory, they fly over it, bomb the hell out of it, and go back to the safe zone.

Depends on what you mean by generally. If you mean that the majority of the AF doesn't put boots in hostil territory, you'd be correct...but then again....most of those in the Army never end up there either.

If you mean it doesn't happen often, that would be wrong. AF TACP/JTAC para-weather...etc are usually there with the other special ops guys....before the first bomb drops. The advisors headed to Iraq will most likley be AF JTAC's...not Army Special OPS types.

And when Army guys get shot up behind enemy lines...its AF PJ's that go get them....save them...and fly them to the hospital.
