One million steins of beer were consumed over the weekend, organizers say, as tourists and locals kicked off the 181st Oktoberfest. The Bavarian beer festival, held on Munich's Theresienwiese, lasts 16 days and will welcome more than six million visitors from around the world. This year, the average price of a mug of beer at any of the tents this year comes to 10.67 ($13.70 U.S.). Gathered here are some of the scenes from the opening weekend of Oktoberfest 2014.

The 3 on the right in the big picture get my vote.
There are no bad choices, but I’d pick the brunette in the little picture.
“Wow! With prices like that, they need to change the name to “Bendoverfest”.... “
Yeah, but that’s probably for a liter of beer. That would be $50 at Citifield or most US ballparks!
Heiliger Bimbam!
We went to last year on the opening weekend. OMG !
The crowds were noisy and huge. you could not find a spot to sit down
so you stood and watched 700 thousand people sing and shout and
and drink their liters of beer. and yes it was expensive as hell.
but as a once in a lifetime experience; = it was Priceless.
Der jahr ist kommen!
Happy Oktoberfest, folks!
“That” music channel started playing Oktoberfest music on Saturday night.
I wish all those that live in Wisconsin, that should not be far behind in festivities, again, Happy Oktoberfest.
(sigh) This is one of the times of year, that I bemoan living in the swamps of “y’allsville”. All the brats, kielbasa, knockwurst, CHEESE, pierogies, and, of course, those (ahem) born to wear certain period Oktoberfest garb - WELL, and of course, polka music.
Same here and my pretty blonde Fraulein is visiting Oktoberfest this week. She had 2 beers and they pretty much kicked her butt.
It’s not warm (as in room temperature), it’s also not served ice cold like American beer. More like 40-45 degrees or so. Perfect temp if you ask me. Also the beer served at Oktoberfest is fresh, it’s great (no hangover). I went last year and to the amazing thing is the people sleeping it off in the train station.
I love the pictures of the guys “resting” in a field. Greatest party in the world.
Beer/boobs - life’s pleasures BUMP!
No dirndl in Islam.
