When I am dining alone at the Waffle House, I just double the check. Those waitresses work hard, and it's still cheap.

Democrats and Leftists are notoriously poor tippers. Conservatives and Christians tend to be generous. Personally, I tip 20% even with bad service- most of the time, the poor service is the fault of something going on in the back, or maybe the waitress has some serious issues going on in her life and she’s having a bad day.

I supported my family and my first child for several years bar tending 4 nights a week. So it can be good money. As for some Waffle House folks doing well, I'm sure they do - but the vast majority of diner staff make far less than the vast majority of upper end restaurants. It's a hierarchy as you know - you "move up" from A to AA to AAA to the majors so to speak.

Of course, this is subject to the infamous tip share required by the restaurant so it's to her advantage to report actual tips after the tip share.
In my experience, a good tender or wait staff can average over 20% - when you factor in cash sales and monkeying around with the register. Especially for tenders who manage their own register. The tip out is generally a third or a fourth of total tips - so you're still "in the money" by imputing 10% - because you're probably making 14-17%.
Did she share it with the hostess and the cook staff first?
She’s lying of course. She kept the money.
My former brother-in-law’s common law wife was a Grade A skank but a highly-skilled white tablecloth waitress and in great demand at pricy restaurants and private dining clubs. She had many $500 shifts in a town where $100 shifts were considered big money.

I think she must have imputed, or implied, a lot more than “ten percent” - if you catch my drift.
IIRC, the IRS now assumes how much of a tip you make and taxes you based on that.

I’m guessing the “sizeable chunk” was $25 or $50, and the rest went in her pocket. We all know that libs are notoriously cheap and give almost nothing to charity. I don’t think her group was able to fund very many abortions with her donation.

I think your post 58 is correct, and it is a teachable moment. I remember the NYT columnist Nikolas Kristof writing in amazement (in 09) that conservatives are more generous to charities than liberals.
He was just stunned. I’m sure you and I knew this instinctively.
Jesse Jackson admitted to spitting on his customers food when he waited tables in South Carolina. I would bet that Limbaugh and others continue to be assaulted by leftist waiters.
