After retaking control of it in the middle of August, Kurdish Peshmerga forces, have re-activated Mosul Dam.

“On Monday Peshmerga forces re-activated Mosul Dam and brought all  employees, engineers and experts back to work,” the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) official in Mosul Saed Mamuzini told BasNews.

“The dam now provides water and electricity to local residents. A large number of villagers, refugees and as some other towns around will be benefit,” he added.

Mosul Dam is one of the biggest dams in Iraq and was captured by Islamic State (IS) militants in July after they took control of Mosul city.

During their control of the dam,  IS insurgents often threatened to destroy it, and that would have resulted in catastrophic damage to many Iraqi cities.

The dam was later retaken by Peshmerga forces with the help of US air strikes late last month.

Yes indeed. There are significant numbers of Kurds in northern Syria and they are under current attack by ISIS. Barry Boo-boo should include bombing THOSE ISIS attackers in the current campaign. Save the empty buildings for later.

The only reason we resisted giving more aid to the Kurds is because of our ties to Turkey.

Turkey is going Islamaniac so we need to turn them loose and shift our support to the Kurds.

Firstly, the Kurds aren’t a single grp of people. They consist of different grps. The U.S. designated Kurdish PKK as a Kurdish Terrorist Grp mostly because Turkey, our NATO ally, wanted it so. Same Turkey who, allegedly, hasn’t been helping the U.S. much. PKK is still designated as a Terrorist Grp. Yet PKK and its extension, YPG, in Syria, were helping and rescuing Yazidis, for example, along with other Kurds (Peshmerga) a couple of months ago when I.S. were killing & capturing Yazidis. The Kurds won’t do more than necessary for themselves and they logically shouldn’t either. Perhaps the Iraqi-Army needs more support! End sarcasm for the last sentence.

The Kurds should be given Iraq.

The Sunnis and Shia should be thrown over the dam with cement blocks attached to their feet.

People want peace? Get rid of the reasons there can be no peace.
