S.N.A.P Benefits to Increase In October
Pennsylvania Dept. of Public Welfare ^ | 9/27/2014 | self

It's about a 4 per cent increase between the benefit increase and the increased expense deduction.

Heard about this increase and searched 'Bing News' and Google News' and found nothing. Finally found this Pa. state welfare site that mentions it.

A 4% SNAP DECREASE would lead in the news media night and day for two months!

I hate our greedy lying media.

Why is there an increase? They keep telling us that there is no inflation?

There’s also $31.5 million for the food stamp pimps and cronies:

“Richmond, VA, Sept. 29, 2014 – Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is making up to $31.5 million in funding available to help participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) more easily afford healthy foods like fruits and vegetables.”

“Fruits and vegetables” he said? Follow a food stamp recipient around and see how many of those go into the cart (or “buggy” as they say here in the South) some time.

Funny that I’ve not heard a word about food costs increasing 4 percent. Surely the media would have been all over that. /s/

I am with you, living on Social Security, along with many others in my “independent living” complex.

Our food bills are going up too, and leaving food out of the CPI calculations is hurting those of us who paid into the system for many years. Why do the EBT card users get an increase when we don’t?

We won't riot if we don't get an increase.

My raise this year was 2%. I felt lucky to get that.

The last salary increase I had was at the start of 2012... since then my cash bonuses essentially stopped, even though I was averaging 120% billable. The worst though is suffering through lack of payment of "significant" reimbursable business expenses for all the time I've spent on the road for my firms one deadbeat client.

What burned me up is that this is pretty much a SECRET increase! Even a tiny increase in SS gets publicized by the media.

Now that you mention it - the chattering class is oddly quiet about this.

Hmmm....

More than what veterans and the military will see.

And far more than most will see via raises this year too.

It just goes to prove that working and providing for one's self and one's family doesn't really pay anymore. Best to slack off and let the Government send me a check every month I suppose.

I hate threads like this...it always turns into a witch hunt for those who have to rely on help to get by. I’m on disability (finally), I get SNAP, and even though I don’t get to keep ANY of my disability since I owe so much in back rent, they cut my food benefit to HALF! My son and I will have to rely on cheap foods; hotdogs, ramen soup etc...I always get fresh fruit and vegies, salads...won’t be able to get that now, we’ll never get through the month with enough to eat on the benefit we will get. So I guess I’m bad because I get “government benefits”...but I sure wish I could figure out how to feed my son and myself when my disability is less than 700 a month and my stamps are halved effective before I even get my first disability check.
