Well it started with 6whine a few Races back. The 88 & 48 are in the same shop at HMS. I’m going with the 48 had a bad batch of shifters and somebody did a switch-a-roo in the parts bins so JR ends up with the bad ones.

I’m guessing that the shifter is machined out of stock and not cast. They will try to keep it at minimal weight and there is a weak spot in the design.
I don’t recall hearing about broken shift levers (aside of these 2) before but I could have missed it.
I’ve had them pull out of a Cortina transmission several times but I just stuck it back in the socket and kept on shifting being sure to keep downward pressure while shifting.

I just watched the video and had the same response. Why is the yellow pit crew guy pulling the yellow driver by the head that way? And why is that other yellow pit crew guy pulling on that yellow pit crew guy the same way.
