FULL TITLE: Girl Scout membership plummets for second straight year losing more than 100,000 members
For the second straight year, youth and adult membership in the Girl Scouts has dropped sharply, intensifying pressure on the 102-year-old youth organization to find ways of reversing the trend.
According to figures provided to The Associated Press, the total of youth members and adult volunteers dropped by 6 per cent over the past year — from 2,994,844 to 2,813,997.
Over two years, total membership is down 11.6 per cent, and it has fallen 27 per cent from a peak of more than 3.8 million in 2003.

Yep, the girl scouts have nothing to offer girls in the way of physical activity and useful skills anymore. However, when I was young, we did not do camping trips either.
I had seen my older brother’s boy scout activities and figured the girls did the same program. I was wrong. We did not even play sports or hike. I guess the moms were not hot on actually doing something that might muss their hair. We sewed and cooked. Lot’s of fun- not. I did not last too long.
From discussions I have had with other moms, it seems that the propaganda pushers and liberal agenda varies from troop to troop. The policies from the top are poisonous, but the lectures given to the girls at the ground level I’m told aren’t necessarily so. I guess some parents decide to stick it out because, where they are, it isn’t bad enough yet to abandon. I am not speaking from personal experience here because my daughter and I chose not to be a part of it at all. The connection with Planned Parenthood was enough to remove it from consideration and the pro lesbian agenda sealed the deal.

Membership in BSA troops (not Cub Scouts/Exploring/Varsity/Venturing/Tiger Cubs) peaked in 1972. It's been a steady decline ever since. Also, the white demographic has always been the largest user of BSA. As whites decrease in the U.S. (from ~90% in 1960 to 62% in 2010) this also impacts upon BSA membership numbers (and arguably GSA numbers). The other demographics just have not taken to Scouting despite massive attempts at market penetration.
The enmity between BSA and GSA goes back to GSA's founding in 1912. BSA's national leadership wanted to control the word "scouting" and had already thrown its support for a girl movement to the Campfire Girls. BSA tried to block the GSA from using the word "scouts" in their title but obviously failed. The founder of GSA, Juliett Lowe, personally knew Baden-Powell when she lived in Scotland with her then-husband. Wait Phillips, co-founder of Phillips Petroleum, and BSA patron (he gave his NM country estate to BSA which re-named it Philmont Scout Ranch) tried to get Campfire Girls and GSA to merge. They aren’t after tolerance. Tolerance means you can agree to disagree as long as you don’t kill each other, burn their property or attack each other.
The LBGTA crowd demand total acceptance in public and no dissent, which is fascism.
