Sure doesn't seem like thirty years ago, that's for sure. In the wee hours, the darkest witching hours, it's difficult to believe it will ever be morning in America ever again, but it can be. It is not impossible.

If Romney couldn't whip the chump in the White House two years ago, why in the world would anyone think he could win two years hence?

And Jeb Bush? Come on, folks.

I miss them too. America still seemed like America back then. Still seemed to have ties to its 200-year history and heritage. Still had a hefty number of older generations who had vinegar in them, who had fought wars and depression, and could flatly differentiate between good and evil.

America-2014 isn’t even like a country anymore. More like a raggedy, run-down bus-station full of disparate interlopers, coming and going. A citizenry with a bottomless sense of entitlement and zero sense of responsibility, and a culture that is so crippled by a kind of PC mindthink and moral relativism, that it has ossified everything. A degenerate wastrel offspring of the country’s former greatness, wildly emoting and wildly flailing around, as it’s engulfed by its own weakness and degeneracy.

America-2014 is like warmed-over death.

I shouldn’t be shocked.

When you find exactly one thing that we shouldn’t look to RRs wisdom for you let us know. Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

Then again, I get the feeling I know why a couple people here are pooh poohing the very idea of Regans ideals. It’s because they consider him a purist. And besides. Mitt didn’t care much for him either.

The republican fixation today with Reagan is akin to my parents generations fixation with FDR.

Go to hell.

You and your ilk are are the reason I
quit the party nineteen years ago.

You are willfully clueless.

I have 8 or 9 speeches by Reagan on my iPod.

I used to listen to them for inspiration or nostalgia.

But, I find that I can longer listen to them. They just make me sad, now.

But too many folks around here are a little too hung up on the past.

So you agree that the Bush clan and the failure that is Romney are the past?

Why do you have a hardon for Mitt? You should really get that taken care of.

Instead of fawning for the past, you should really be looking for our leader of tomorrow. Ronnie cannot run again.

The fact you don’t know shows how in the tank you are.

Romney was a lousy Gov. I haven’t liked him for decades.

I though GW showed promise, but he blew it. His Dad was the epitome of a NeoCon.

Me too. BTW, I still use the same TV today as I did then, my 1982 Zenith. I can’t watch that commercial and not shed a tear.

Look, Vermont, you say people are missing your point, and while I think you are being dumped on over-much, I think it is you who has missed the point of this thread.

People are remembering a man who stood for conservative principles and eloquently defended and advocated them. The country responded to that leadership. Did he ever make mistakes? Of course, but he loved America and supported it’s ideals.

I doubt Reagan could be elected in America today because the moral decay of our nation is so much more than it was in the 80’s. “PC”-ism is so much greater today. A far greater number of our people are on government assistance. But, having said all of that, the point is we need another leader like Reagan who believes in our nation’s ideals, who faces our problems head on, who makes no apologies for those ideals.

Can that type of person be elected today? - I don’t know. Is there a leader out there who can unite enough of us to make real changes toward correcting the huge growth of government? I honestly don’t know that either. But, I sure would like to be able to support someone who was as consistent as Reagan in supporting those ideals.

So, yes, we get it. Reagan is not coming back, but the principles he stood for, which is what this thread was about, are still worth fighting for and giving it all we have. I pray, God willing, that there is a leader out there who can do what Reagan did.

” Why do you have a hardon for Mitt? You should really get that taken care of.”

The American people took care of that.......they walked away from Romney in droves.

Our little friend is crying the blues to me in email demanding to be left lone.

Or rather, left to spew his Romneybot/RINO bullXhit without having to get called on it. Sounds just like his handlers in the main office.

If you’d seen his performance defending Romneycare a couple weeks or so back, you might not think that he was being dumped on overmuch.

1980 was a pivotal year for me. I graduated high school and enlisted in the Marine Corps. I was fortunate to come of age as Ronald Reagan was coming into office. The 1980s were definitely the best years of my life.

Now if the GOPe REALLY wants to make sure we lose the presidential election next time, they can put up

Jeb (Mexico) Bush

Christie the RINO

Romney 3

Marco Amnesty

Any will guarantee we lose, which apparently is the goal.

Sure it is. They have acted as the pressure relief valve since Reagan. I fully expect them to keep doing it. That way the sheep still think there is an opposition party and doesn’t rebel.

I want to see one single RINO fan disprove the theory with the actual facts in evidence...IE their list of actions and inactions since the apparently hated Reagan left office.

Never thought I’d see the day that RR was maligned on FR but I really shouldn’t be shocked.
