At least 300 ISIL militants were killed and scores of ISIL vehicles captured in clashes between the pershmerga and ISIL militants

MOSUL

Iraqi Kurdish peshmerga forces are continuing their advance towards Iraq's Mosul province, capturing at least 60 Iraqi villages last month, an Iraqi commander has said.

At least 300 ISIL militants were killed and scores of ISIL vehicles captured in clashes between the pershmerga and ISIL militants, according to Colonel Z. Sheikh Vasani, a peshmerga commander on the Mahmur front.

"We are fighting with weapons sent by France and Germany. We took control of at least 60 villages around the Al Mahmur district. We can carry out an operation on Mosul if our superiors command it," Vasani said.

He said that peshmerga forces drew 40 km closer to Mosul, which largely remains under ISIL control.

“IF our superiors command it”. Just a word of warning. That’s a big “if”. Somethings have been holding them back, as is the case in Syria. All is not what it appears :)

With the Pesh doing most of the heavy lifting against ISIS, even going so far as to fight in Syria, I wonder...when this thing is over, if Iraq is still an existing nation, will the central government finally give up the Arab claim to Kirkuk? As it stands, the Kurds control it, since the government troops left when ISIS came to town.

"We are fighting with weapons sent by France and Germany."

I'm glad somebody is will to give them some support. The Peshmerga are willing to stand in the breach and take those devils on. They deserve to be backed.

Well, it has become extremely Obvious that American admins in the last 30 some yrs have had NO PROBLEM with the spread of Islamism in the M.E., N. Africa and in fact around the globe, including the U.S. - playing one against another. As we speak, they still don't see it as a problem.

Why? Who knows, exactly. I believe it's more than oil & big Corporation..$$$ involved. But the proof is so obvious, whether they called it "moderate Islam" on occasions or "radical Islam", both are same deal.

Overall, the above line of policy won't wash much longer. This spread of Islamism is Very dangerous, especially when 'you giveth and you taketh' approach. If we don't want Islamic terrorism, just don't spread or help it. Full Stop/Period.

None of the so-called 'Islamic countries' could have survived as long as they've to spread their Islam without America & its 'coalition' countries helping them.

I couldn’t agree more. When ISIS threatened Kirkuk, the Arabs — true to their cowardly form — ran like scared rabbits. The Kurds secured it and are retaking swaths of that region. F**k the Arabs. What the Kurds regain should remain theirs.

let the Kurds be the ones in power in Iraq. The Sunni and Shittites are more concerned about a power struggle. It is weird the Sunni and Shittite fight over whom is right in the the issue of Islamic folklore, Mohammed’s offspring fractured the Islamic religion into many different factions that exist today. The Sunnis are so fratured by the offshots and the Shittites are fractured by a different branch of offshots. Keep in mind that Al Quadea and ISIS or ISIL are a faction of the Sunni not the shittite. Further oddity is that the Sunni are the educated elite - doctors, lawyers, engineers whom are the ones whom have the financial means to destroy.

Don’t worry, FWIW, we could see a bigger offshoot of ISIS down the road, after all, ISIS came after we supposedly killed Al Qaeda by killing bin Laden.
