They didn’t even have a plan to make sure the two orphaned sisters Carol cared for or baby Judith got on the bus, with adults responsible for making sure kids and child-necessary supplies were loaded.
So not making sure the teenager was on the bus was low on their list of mistakes.

Not having get out of dodge bags packed well in advance or evacuation plans are higher on that list.

Or rendezvous points, but that would have eliminated a half season's worth of episodes.

Rick wasn’t being the leader he needed to be. The whole group was lost without that. Can’t say i’d second guess his wavering, given all he’d been through. Glad he’s back to his normal play to win, go on the offense self. Gareth would testify that the real Rick is back - if he could.

Mistake or your interpretation of how the plot line SHOULD have progressed?......LOL!

I'm glad you're not a member of the writers, this show would really be boring..........
