Thus far, through five seasons, the show has been refreshingly devoid of political correctness (at least I haven't seen it) but there's no surer way of killing a good thing than to insert transparent, heavy-handed political/social agendas.

Yup. And after this, there will be an effort to legalize illegal alien walkers from Mexico. Then there will be a rally where walkers demand to vote without ID. Then there will be a zombie who comes up with an alternative to dirty coal so we can save the planet from Global Warming.

The writers are liberals but they are good writers and have made an effort to keep their politicl views in check. I mean homosexuality, foodstamps and gun control just do not have much of a place in a post apocalyptic world.

Too many people watch and they simply cannot resist. It's the old tale of the frog and the scorpion all over again.

Wouldn't fans object if the show took major deviations from the expected arc?

Daryl isn't a comic character. There have been many deviations from the comic to the television show, that it wouldn't matter. Besides, the comics already have a couple gay characters they haven't brought in yet (but I'm sure they will). When it gets to that point, I think I'll be done with the show.

So many instances negate these claims. Here are just a few:

- Will and Grace was the first serious shot to win over women to support the homos. It was unfortunately successful.

- ThirtySomething presented homosexuals in a relationship that was just as ‘normal’ as the other normal couples in the show.

- Halt and Catch Fire had a gratuitous homo scene involving its lead character.
