I guess you missed the part of the article where they: 1) spoof your carrier's signal to force your phone to connect to it; 2) they can jam your phone or disconnect your call; and most egregiously 3) where they can steal your photos or downloads from your phone.
There needs to be laws in place protecting us against this obvious government overreach.
This whole Big Government/Big Brother instrusiveness is ostensibly to fight terrorism, 99.95% of which is committed by mohammedans.
Instead of keeping mohammedans out of our country, which would make us more secure than spying on everyone in the hopes of catching these crazed ragheads before they commit murder or mayhem, the goobermint keeps importing them, thus requiring ever more restrictions on our freedoms.
Becuase the idiot politcal elites class is enamoured with flooding our shores with “diversity”, including those who want to cut our throats, rather than forbidding mohammedan immigration to our country, the elites find themselves in the position where they must take away our liberties in order to protect us from the cutthroats who they refuse to keep out.
They’re brilliant, aren’t they?
look for cessnas with no N`s
#1) I ... do ... NOT ... believe ... THEM ...
#2) I'm sure they're building that 5 zeta digital storage facility in Utah for storing missing IRS emails.
If you believe ANYTHING the govt tells you, more the fool you be.
Believe NONE of the govt propaganda pedaled out to you on a daily basis and your life will be MUCH safer.

Shirley you're not series ?
The gubmint is free to listen to your phone calls and read your emails...since these were not around at the time the 4th Amendment was incorporated, right?
Apparently thats how The Regime reads it:

YES WE SCAN!!!
I wonder if we have literally embraced Fascism in America. Reagan said fascism will come in form of liberalism. I so want to see the GOP fight back on this. We have far too many RINOs in the party today.
It should also be illegal to have cameras on the roads as well.
The thing is our government doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the Constitution anymore or about our Bill of Rights. Its sickening.
What are we living in? East Germany?
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
For the same reason it’s illegal to search through all of your possessions without a warrant, even if you don’t use the “evidence” thereby obtained.
This is a police money shake down operation in lieu of local taxes. They should be ashamed for doing this.
Because there is an expectation of privacy using a phone in a car in which you are the only occupant. Unless you have a warrant, you can’t listen, peak, snoop, surveil, or probe.
I’ve got a neat gadget that basically turns the walls of your house into glass. What’s the harm in parking my van with the neat gadget outside any random house and turning on the video?
See where we are going here? Secure in persons, papers, what not. It had a brief mention in the Bill of Rights somewhere.
“Ive got a neat gadget that basically turns the walls of your house into glass. Whats the harm in parking my van with the neat gadget outside any random house and turning on the video?”
First of all, the surveillance is only conducted upon a known suspect. Second, any information on the other party is not maintained or stored. Your analogy has no suspect and you’re retaining the information.
A better analogy would be a suspect in a park. You take a picture of the suspect and incidentally capture in the background the image of an otherwise un-involved person. According to some, you cannot take the picture of the suspect if there is another person in the imagine.
