They look like sink holes but that doesn’t explain the piles of debris around the rims.

If the material dropped into a fluid, yes, it does by mechanics similar to an implosion.

“Checking out Google earth. Looks like the Yamal Pensinsula is already covered with sink holes.”

Yeppers. It’s called a permafrost pingo. They are very common there.

Newly Discovered Siberian Craters Signify End Times (or Maybe Just Global Warming); Mystery of the Siberian crater deepens: Scientists left baffled after two NEW holes appear in Russia’s icy wilderness

Actually, these craters are not mysterious at all—there are hundreds of them all over the Yamal Peninsula and their origin has been well known for many years.

As you can see from the images in Figure 2, there are hundreds of these craters, mostly not as fresh as the recent ones, but showing the same features—a depression surrounded by a ring of raised ground. These are pingos!!

Yeah I was looking and you see concentrations of them all across the tundra in Alaska and Canada as well.

Some new ideas about forces within a tectonic plate as I noticed that an intersection of "tectonic" faults was mentioned. It still doesn't say much about an ignition source for any methane explosion. Lightning?

I don’t see what all the fuss is, everybody knows the hole’s natural enemy is the pile. Just import a bunch of undocumented piles to do the work the Serbian piles seem interested in avoiding.

I love that little Trotsky look alike. He grovels before the giant vegetable and gushes "You are so much older, so much wiser than us . . . ."

That was probably the last time a leftist was accurately portrayed in a movie.

Can you believe that gif was taken from a Wendy’s Hamburgers commercial? That’s pretty twisted.

When Noory goes I’ll be willing to be he’ll be the last host man enough to serve in uniform.

It's too bad John B. Wells walked away from it. He was much better than Snoory.
