The Redskins will say they're not giving up on Robert Griffin III, that he can be developed, that he can still become the quarterback they hoped he would be -- and expected him to be -- when they gave up four draft picks for him in 2012.
It's hard to believe them. Everything else suggests this is the end for Griffin in Washington.

I may eat crow (after turkey) tomorrow since Tony Turnover may still reappear. That said, unlike virtually every year in the past several years, when the clock was running out in the game against the Gnats, I just knew that Romo and the team would get a touchdown. My confidence was near 100%. In season after season prior to this year, my instinctive reaction when the game is on the line with a closing drive was "How are they gonna screw this opportunity up?" The money spent on the O-Line was spent and that, as much as anything, is why my usual cringing as the game is heading toward the end have disappeared this year.
Just thank God they stopped Jerruh from pulling the trigger on Johnny Football and drafted Zack Martin.
Not Elway.
With Colt McCoy starting this Sunday, do you think RG3 is finished if Colt pulls out a big win over Indy?
It’s about time!
And while they are at it, they need a few decals of potatoes with red skins to place on their helmets.
Colt killed me in the ESPN Eliminator contest when he whupped the Dallas Cowboys on MNF. The one time when the “ex-Brown curse” was abrogated. I guess it was because ANOTHER ex-Brown was playing qb for Dallas...
He’s have to demonstrate the stamina to support the OpTempo of that team.
As an aside, we also witnessed Michael Vick’s last game in the NFL, against Buffalo this past monday. He looked confused, his few completions were short-yard check downs, and the Jets looked terrible with him at QB.
And drifting the topic a bit, how 'bout another distant memory? Beano Cook Predicts Ron Powlus Will Win Two Heisman Trophies. Toward the end, there's a brief glimpse of a much younger Lee Corso. :)
Mark Sanchez says "Hi."
That's become a complex issue since the last NFLPA contract.
First Round draft picks get less money, shorter contracts (4 years), and all 4 years are guaranteed.
RG3 got a $14 million bonus, which is typically spread across all 4 years for salary cap purposes.
His total package was $21 million, so his 4th year base is probably around $2-$3 million.
But, someone, the Skins or the trade team, has to eat the one year $3.5 million salary cap hit, too.
Plus, RG3 just has one contract year left, so he'd be a free agent in 2016 (several types of free agency, I can't recall which applies to RG3).
That means a 2014 trade team has to sign him to a longer term contract to make sure he doesn't bolt after one year, which will reduce his trade value for the Redskins in 2014.
“Hes have to demonstrate the stamina to support the OpTempo of that team.”
He would be Foles backup for a year. Learn the system. Get healthy, and get in shape.
“Weeden was horrible against Arizona.”
One game. Come on, they aren’t robots.
Chip is most likely wanting Mariotta out of Oregon.
Go Ducks
well, they did win Super Bowls with Doug Williams and with Mark Rypien....won them by huge margins.
That's for sure. Mariotta an Eagle would be great to see. But to get him we would have to trade up and it would cost too much. Mariotta will probably go #1 or 2. We'll be drafting in the 20s.
Mariotta will not be available when the Iggles draft.
Biggest bust in NFL history and a blind man could have seen it coming.
Romo is the Cowboys MVP, but Demarco Murray has a better chance of winning the NFL MVP.
Neither of them will, of course. It’s going to be Rodgers, Luck or Brady.
Zach Martin should be Rookie of the Year, but they’ll probably give it to one of the receivers. At first it was looking like Watkins in Buffalo. Then Mike Evans started tearing it up. But I have a feeling that Beckham just locked it up with that amazing (albeit overrated) catch Sunday night.
But ROY should definitely be Martin. He has turned that O-Line into a monster.
May the Jacksonville Jaguars? They really sucketh this year.
