(CNSNews.com) - Speaking at a "college opportunity summit" on Thursday, First Lady Michelle Obama described "two worlds" of college-bound students:
"[T]he fact is that right now, a small number of students are getting every advantage in the college admissions race, while millions of other students who are just as talented can't even begin to compete."
Mrs. Obama was making a pitch for expanded college counseling. She said too many students go through school without any real guidance on how to get into college or how to pay for it.
She described one world, where students "don't know what classes to take, or how to prepare for the SAT or the ACT. No one helps them decide which colleges to apply to. No one reviews the their applications. And plenty of kids have no idea that they're eligible for financial aid, so they assume they just can't afford college, and they don't even bother to apply.

"I can't go out and save every undercapitalized company in America" kind of bothered me; at the time she said that I was running an undercapitalized company that employed five other people besides myself.
Michelle is opening an opportunity for all kinds of additional “funding” by the government here. They’ll probably start up a Department of College Counselors, which will include full time people that we pay to fill out college applications, scholarship applications, etc. Each public high school student will have a four-year guidance counselor with whom they will meet once a week, and which will no doubt include referrals to psychologists and various specialists, free tutoring in preparation for the SAT and ACT, and so on. Each counselor will be limited to 20 students, so they have time to effectively do their jobs. If they just had more money.....

My offspring is in their senior year of high school. Has a 4.0. Top 5% of their class, is in numerous honor societies, clubs, etc. I started putting $$ away for their college education 17 years ago. All undergrad classes are already paid for and there is significant cash in a 529 plan.
We did not need any help with any of this, this was our responsibility.
I agree that it would be a good idea to educate parents on the different options available for a child’s future. One option may be that they don’t go to college, maybe they would be a great welder?
This is not any of Mrs. Obama’s business but if she wants to educate people I suggest that she take about $250 out of her own pocket, go to godaddy.com and take a day to build a web site with the information she thinks is going to be helpful. Or, she could get my kid to do it. My kid and their nerd buddies could knock it out very quickly. I assure you they are much more intelligent than Michelle Obama, her husband and everyone around them today.
If Mrs. Obama wants to work on this it is a free country. Just let her do it in her own dime. She, her husband and his entire administration have already proved without a doubt that they have no concept of what money is. They have added 7 trillion to our debt and have implemented numerous policies, programs, executive actions, regulations and an abundant amount of stupidity that I would say will bankrupt this country. I would say that but it has already happened.
It is nothing personal but just an observation. The people running this country are morons. I find it ironic that one of those morons think they can enlighten anyone on anything except how to live their life as a parasitic idiot.
Stupid woman, if every person went to college, college would become part of high school. It would give no one any advantages over anyone.

Yes, I was a poor white child. I stood in line with other poor people in order to receive surplus foods. I would have gotten even more stuff had I been black.
Today the "small number of students" who get the advantages are black, hispanic or foreign-born.
Both Moochie and Bathhouse are members of that selected group of blacks who had a little gumption and got all the goodies - because of their skin color.

Why can’t their friends in the CRIPS or BLOODS help them with college ?
