Damn, wish there were a couple of Churchills today. We need strong leaders.
To: SamAdams76
A truly great leader. Shame there are none like him today.

Never Give In
Never give in, never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to a force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

That was taken after Churchill had peed in the river.

Thanks very much, NEWwoman - I read his "Second World War" and his "History of the English Speaking Peoples" before my voice cracked. In my mind, the greatest statesman and spokesman for Western Civilization in our lifetimes.
Did you listen to the "Rule Britannia?" HM Royal Marines - one of the best versions I have heard.

This is the Arabic character "nun" the first letter of the word "Nazarene." I post it as my avatar in solidarity with people of all faiths suffering persecution at the hands of Islam. Many of them are members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, dating from the days of the Apostles. They endure cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors they, and we, are all "Nazarenes." |

I think Gen. Patton peed first; no EPA back then.

Yes, he did.
LOL Patton would have thrown any EPA people in the river.

Rule Britannia in your link is a good version. I have heard others on youtube, but would love to have your version set to iconic images.
My husband has Churchill’s history of the English speaking people on his NOOK (eBook). It’s almost impossible to get elsewhere. He read it, but I haven’t yet.
I consider Churchill one of the greatest figures of the 20th century. He came to power when England was alone and the only nation in Europe that hadn’t fallen to Hilter (or rolled over and played dead as neutral)

Unquestionally the greatest figure, statesman, of the 20th century. Democrat FDR, his pandering-to-Uncle Joe weak ally.
To: ConorMacNessa
Ah the famous Karsh portrait. What is so great about Churchill besides the obvious is the man enjoyed life to the fullest. This shot either a few seconds before or after the serious one shows this.

Perhaps, but both he and his father have a lot to answer for for their treatment of Ireland, particularly Sir Randolph and Ulster...

I wish was had a “watchman” like Churchill, warning us of the danger. Ted Cruz is the closest I can think of.
