Why Peanut Butter Is Awesome and Amazing

One of my husband ‘s favorite sandwiches is peanut butter and a pickle on rye. Elvis Presley liked his peanut butter sandwiches with banana and bacon, and Hemingway liked thick onion slices in his. Ninety-four percent of American households have a jar on hand. The stuff lasts forever, so in a nuclear war situation you can always rely on it for sustenance. It can be stored safely unrefrigerated for two years.

I, on the other hand, have a love/hate relationship with it, and if I do ever eat it, I do so in the traditional manner, as a solo spread or with its mate, jelly! At other times, I abhor the stuff and, even when scrounging around for something to eat, will bypass it.

I had always thought that peanut butter was as American as apple pie and mom and was never eaten before we Americans took over from the British. Not true. It was actually an Aztec dish, but eaten as a paste, not a spread. I bet they didn’t eat it with jelly either, or put it into their kids’ lunch boxes.

I first grab some coconut oil with the spoon, then scoop up some Jif. Yum, and you get the health benefit of coconut oil.

I can’t believe I haven’t seen Thai peanut sauce and/or phad Thai? I love fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce. I grow Thai basil and mint in the garden so that I can enjoy many asian dishes in the summer.

YUM!

PB was an integral part of my financial life as it helped give me my start.

In the age of 30 I knew I had to get started building toward some passive income streams for later in life, and fast. I grossed about $12,000 that year. I saved $5,500 of it and starting investing.

I ate a LOT of peanut butter for protein that year and for a while afterward. Still love it.

‘I had it everyday through six years of grammar school. I like it with honey’

Which, peanut butter w/garlic or just peanut butter? Try your honey version with banana on top of the honey. Damn good eats.

My mother always served me Skippy, don't have it so much anymore, but when I do I prefer Laura Scudder’s or Trader Joe's whole peanuts, with salt. I'll try it with banana, thanks for the suggestion.
It was a running joke in grammar school. Friends would always ask what kind of sandwich I had despite the fact they knew the answer. I always replied “peanut butter” and laughed along.

Adams un-stirred. Chunky or Creamy. My kids eat nothing else when it comes to PB. Come to think of it, I won’t any other peanut butter. Everything else has WAY too much sugar.

Adams ingredient list: Peanuts, Salt.

That’s it.
