Last week, I tried to watch a video and got the message...you need a plug in to watch this video. I tried to reinstall Adobe Flash Player and that didn't work.
If any of you FReepers have had the same problem and solved it, please tell me how you did it.

Flash doesn’t work well with the latest version of IE and Microsoft doesn’t seem to care.
Firefox? FF and flash no longer play nice together for some reason.
I have not upgraded Adobe Flash in a long time, because it and Firefox kept having problems. I found some older versions of both talked to each other better.

With Adobe Flash, you really need to run the Adobe Flash Uninstaller first. Then install the newer version.
For some reason, newer versions do not remove all unnecessary old files, and that can create conflicts.

The help feature tells you how to solve the problem, but despite following the instructions, mine will sometimes work and sometimes not work.

Flash is crashy in Chrome, too. At least in Chrome you can reload Flash while staying on the same page.
One of the things about Flash that will cause it to crash (more) is that you can have multiple installations of it. ANd I mean 3 or 4 or 5. I went through a routine where I deleted all but one and noticed a good improvement in non-crashiness, but I can’t recall how I fixed that. Perhaps you could try to search for “remove multiple flash install[ation]s” and see what you get.
(Adobe) PDFs and Firefox do not play nice together, either.
Did you go to the actual Adobe.com site and download the latest Flash or did you click a link in the video that said ‘To install Flash, Click here”? If the latter, chances are that it may not have been Flash you were installing ( hence why Flash still doesn’t work ), but a virus. Also, uninstall the older version of Flash before you install the newest one.
Switch to Chrome, the Flash in Chrome works dramatically better.
I forgot to mention that I have a Windows 7 premium, if that makes any difference.
1. Go to Control Panel and delete Adobe Flash
2. Reboot
3. Clear your cache in your all of your browsers
4. Go to Control Panel, find and run Windows Update. Do required and, if appropriate, the optional updates (I do them all)
5. Reboot (best, whether required or not)
6. Go to http://www.adobe.com and find the link and install Flash. Note: Watch the steps and uncheck (if you want) the add-ons they offer.
7. Should be good to go.
Every problem I’ve ever had with Adobe updates in any fashion were always mucked up when there was a previous version on the computer. If it was me, I’d uninstall anything related to it and then download and install.
Adobe is very bad about trying to install other applications such as Chrome, etc. so watch out for it.
One of their update routines pretty much keeps you from using IE to double click on links in Outlook, and keeps Excel spreadsheets from being double clicked. MS has a clean for this, if you get it...

To my mind, Chrome is the problem. It messes up IE in my experience and causes other MS malfunctions.
Run the Flash uninstaller first to get rid of all old files. You can download it from Adobe’s website.
Then run the latest Chrome (IE will work if you have no other choice). Both those browsers come with Flash preinstalled. If you still have trouble, go in the browser settings and make sure Flash is turned on.

I did that and used IObit Uninstaller and used the powerful scan for any left over items...nothing was left over.
Ditto.
Many sites try to get you to install other plugins to watch their flash content.
Also anyone with flash should often go here:

and adjust their flash security settings and remove any stored flash cookies they don’t want.
I just turn Flash off in my browsers...if you need it the browser will prompt you for just that occaision...browser doesn’t crash anymore.
Try Sumatra.
