Thanks, I will do that. I had heard that Subuh name a while back somewhere but I had forgotten all about him, (until your post), as maybe a part of the ‘puzzle’.
You keep saying you don't listen to him. Why, then, are you so convinced he was misquoted, misunderstood, etc.?
"What they think he said"---really? I'd say that's insulting to the intelligence of Freepers.
"Discernment sees a problem. What we do with our discernment is a whole other thing. We can choose derision and name-calling. Or maybe there are other options."
What do you think should be done?
Do you see a problem with Osteen?
Thanks, bobby...yep, I agree.
Hey, Adolph Hitler was also a “CHRISTIAN”. So was Josef Stalin. Both of them studied in the PRIEST HOOD. Can’t be any more “CHRISTIAN???” than that.
one time, at a meal, the religious of the day were sitting with Jesus. When a woman of ill-repute sat behind him, wept, and washed the feet of Jesus with her hair. Jesus didn’t say anything. The religious folks exercised ‘discernment’. And then they derided Jesus for his lack of discernment.
These Joel Osteen threads remind me of this story. If one doesn’t join in the ridicule, their discernment is first questioned and then mocked.
Interesting twist with Jesus. He had discernment - he knew what type of woman she was...just like the religous folk did. But his mission was not to embarrass her. His mission was to die for her, to lay down his life. And he didn’t much care what the religous folks thought of him.
If we are called to be like Jesus, yes, we are to use discernment. Maybe instead of mocking (like the religous leaders), some want to take their discernment and use it constructively.
Good point! Keep it out front.
Really Joel? Well Burrrack may be, but I seriously doubt you are.
He’s an adulterer of the word of God...he makes me sick, in the same way all those prosperity, “name it and claim it” types made me sick. He’s another Rick Warren type conning the biblically illiterate out of their money and leading them down a false path.
He’s incredibly naive as well.
So you're being derided...just like Jesus? Is that the takeaway?
"These Joel Osteen threads remind me of this story. If one doesnt join in the ridicule, their discernment is first questioned and then mocked."
Well, I'm not going to put myself in the same category with Him...no way, nohow. Your mileage may vary.
"Interesting twist with Jesus. He had discernment - he knew what type of woman she was...just like the religous folk did. But his mission was not to embarrass her. His mission was to die for her, to lay down his life."
Well, He already did that for Osteen and for the rest of us, so none of us here need worry about dying for Joel and his teeth.
" And he didnt much care what the religous folks thought of him."
Just like you. Wow. I'm impressed.
"If we are called to be like Jesus, yes, we are to use discernment. Maybe instead of mocking (like the religous leaders), some want to take their discernment and use it constructively"
Yet you can't get more specific than that; nor can you answer my question as to whether you see problems with Osteen.
Never mind. Give yourself another pat on the back.
At times, you can read a whole lot into what I say.
At other times, what I say isn’t obvious enough for you.
Yea, I believe it is obvious that several on this thread and this forum are derided for JO daily post or not joining in the negative chorus about him. As I tried to explain, discernment can happen without derision.
Not gonna respond to most of your other comments.
They’re sure birds of a feather....and I really don’t mean that as an insult to birds.
