What was the lowest gas price you can remember both as a young person, (non-driver) and as a driver?

I can recall growing up in Chicago in the 1950s. "Oklahoma" gas stations were the most visible. I seem to recall 19 cents a gallon. The lowest price as a driver was around 29 cents. Seemed like it always was about the same as a pack of cigarettes or gallon of milk.

22.9 Jimmy’s gas station Hamilton and Holt Pomona CA 1963. The lowest since I was a driver at age 16.

Our boss turned the engine over and killed a cat which had been sleeping under her hood. The next day she went out to her car and some one (to reman nameless) had put one of those tails sticking out of the hood.

Fun stuff.

We always bought our gas at a Sinclair station in Washington, DC or Marlow Heights.

YES! the bell rang when you ran over the black hose, yes indeed!

Not having cars checked by an attendant probably causes some accidents or at least breakdowns, too...
