Chicago Obama library bids in trouble; Foundation has 'major concerns' with U. of C. proposal

The Barack Obama Foundation has major problems with the University of Chicago bid for the Obama presidential library and museum and is uneasy about the bid from the University of Illinois at Chicago, leaving Columbia University in New York the frontrunner for the project.

A source close to the foundation told me that the University of Chicago bid is in jeopardy because it does not own — and has no definite path to acquiring at present — any of the South Side sites the school proposed in its Dec. 11 bid. The land is owned by the Chicago Park District.

“There are major concerns with the three potential sites in the University of Chicago proposal given the fact that neither the school nor the City of Chicago control the sites,” the source said.

The jolt from the foundation, led by Marty Nesbitt, a friend of President Barack Obama, puts pressure on Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s former chief of staff. “The point is the city needs to solve the problem as much as the University of Chicago,” the source said.

Obama library? Wouldn’t an Obama golf course be more appropriate?

University of Chicago: funded and founded by John D Rockefeller. Now a liberal bastion.

My Gramps drew up plans for a two-holer outhouse we built up at the far corner of his ranch when I was a kid...Served the bunkhouse when we were out for the night...

Would be perfect for the Obama Library, with room to spare...We could even enlarge the seats to accommodate MOO-chelle’s lard-a$$...

Maybe I should submit the design...?

A floating Google barge off Lake michigan ould be good. But A garbage barge floating outside Bayonne, NJ would be better

Not surprised Columbia wants another Communist on campus. Been like that for 80 years

Reading room at the Obama library. Fiction on the right, reality on the roll at the left.

That cartoon is included in Amity Schlaes’ book “The Forgotten Man.” Change a few names and target a different industry, and you soon discover little has changed in 80 years.

The University of Chicago listed the South Shore Cultural Center as one of its sites despite the fact that the property (a former private country club) is owned by the Chicago Park District. Why would the park district give up its land which includes a golf course for the Obama Library?
It would make as much sense to announce that the library would be located on the site of Soldier Field, Buckingham Fountain or Oak Street Beach.

This was positively ludicrous and Barack and Michelle Obama should have known this because they rented the ballroom at the clubhouse of this park district property for their wedding reception.

Sun-Times columnist Lynn Sweet is a cheerleader and enabler for Obama.

There is a nine hole public golf course on Lake Michigan next to one of the Chicago sites, but the land is owned by the park district, not the university.

Kind of fitting in a way for his legacy IMHO.

So what if they don’t own the property and want to build there anyway? Is anyone naive enough to truly believe that if U of C and the City of Chicago both agree that it’s a good place for it that the landowner could even have a say in what happens whether legal or not?

Really?

Communist Party USA joins struggle against police violence!

You cannot make this stuff up! They appear to be serious.

Just imagine the REAL police violence if the communists were in charge.

My proposal: The entrance would include a red line that you would have to cross in order to get in. Once inside, there would only be one room, with the only exhibits being a pen and a phone, and a putting green.
