It is cute, and it triggers some memories that I can’t quite pull to the surface, but they are pleasant and something that is just like this, involving kids and a loving dog.
I think people are forgetting that this is a moment captured on film, I doubt that the Palins keep the dog there in front of the kitchen sink, as a permanent step stool.
The relationship between a boy and his dog is sacred. They are each others best friend. They do not so much tolerate as they desire the attention of each other. The dog is happy to have his friend standing on him to achieve his heart’s desire. The picture emanates joy, love and the deepest warmth of friendship.
I have faith in Sarah and Todd as parents they have already raised 4 other children who appear to be in tact.
Of course you don't let little kids touch/poke, stand on, pull the ears or tails of just any dog. But this is Trig’s dog and if the dog did not like what Trig was doing, he would be on the floor.
It has always bothered me how conservatives are so quick to talk about disciplining kids, it's disturbing.
I would never know that this is free republic..what a bunch of namby-pambies..this must be huffpo or daily kos. The comments are as though the kid weighs 500 lbs. and the dog is a yorkie. Who are you people any more? Waaah, waaah, waaah...

Exactly - it was a cute moment she decided to capture in a photo. Interestingly, it brought back memories of my beloved black lab. I’m thinking of how I used to run my hand along his side and marvel and his strong musculature. He was a beauty - although nuts!
We had a happy home. Look, this is Their home. I am not excited about this or upset about this. The dog doesn’t appear to be upset, so it is their beeswax.
I figure if Palin put these out there she knew it would rile people up. So it was purposeful.
By the way, our family had a lot of fun. A hoot wasn’t missed because I didn’t allow them to stand on the pets.
I use past tense because my kids are all grown. Our cats stand on us because they want to. LOL
I bet Todd dared her to post the pics on FB.
