Dr. Tobia might want to think hard about why studying real people is much better than playing around with made up characters.My thoughts too - the reason I found the show funny was because they obviously understood the maladies they set for each of the characters - the folks on the show were smarter than those who "study" them.

On a schooling level fictional people are better. They’re probably familiar to the students already, you can “bring them in” any time you want, there’s no ethical quandaries around studying people without bothering to try to fix them, and they remain pleasantly static.
