LEIZHOU, China, - A Chinese court upheld a 13-year jail sentence for a man convicted of purchasing and eating three endangered tigers in separate incidents.

Authorities told Qinzhou City Intermediate People's Court the man, identified by the surname Xu, organized three trips to Leizhou, Guangdong province, in 2013 for himself and 14 other people.

During each trip, Xu purchased a tiger which was then killed via electric shock, dismembered and served to the group as food. One of the incidents was recorded on a cellphone camera and the video was handed over to police.

Investigators said they searched Xu's home and found animal skeletons, a tiger's penis, and remains of endangered animals including giant geckos and a cobra.

Xu told police he paid more than $70,000 for each tiger.

Xu was sentenced in April to 13 years in prison for illegally transporting precious and endangered animals. The Qinzhou City Intermediate People's Court rejected Xu's appeal Monday and upheld the sentence.

The other 14 people involved in the incidents were given jail sentences of five to six and a half years.

I’d be more impressed if he killed them himself.

I read a Sci-Fi story once where people trying to show their superiority destroyed all the great art, buildings, documents and ate the last of various species. Totally corrupted by their immortality and wealth, they disdained all that previous people had held dear. Sounds like this case.

Beyond the absolute weirdness of eating a tiger, I thought carnivores and carrion feeders are generally to be avoided as food as they take on the flavor of what they eat (dead flesh). Stick to eating herbivores.

Pigs are omnivores. They taste delicious.
I have had Lynx jerkey. It was good too.
Bear is pretty tough by my experience, but the animals may have been old.
Alligator is very good.

Cats are true carnivores with a superior digestive system for all meat. They can digest humans who carry a lot of pollutants in our bodies. Bears and wolves have a much harder time digesting us.

Given that, the tigers could ingest all kinds of horrible things which would not make desirable eating for most other creatures.

“What was it called? “

I don’t recall. If I recall, I think I stopped reading when they burned the Constitution.
