I Wasn't Treating My Husband Fairly, And It Wasn't Fair

My "Aha Moment" happened because of a package of hamburger meat. I asked my husband to stop by the store to pick up a few things for dinner, and when he got home, he plopped the bag on the counter. I started pulling things out of the bag, and realized he'd gotten the 70/30 hamburger meat - which means it's 70% lean and 30% fat. Avoid the cost-push fallacy!

The price is determined by what the customer will pay, not the cost of production!

So...you think this article is about 70/30 hamburger?

Staying in business is determined by revenue exceeding expenditures ...

Always being able to say something is only a virtue in women's television shows and courtrooms. When someone is raping the emotional trust you've extended her in order to try to use that intimacy to cripple your heart, it is precisely your love for them that holds your tongue - and precisely their own personal soul degradation and sadism that allows them to speak.

In such a situation, let your feet do the talking for you - walk away, and don't come back.

Of course, 80/20 costs more, right?

I was being droll. There is a market for butterfat (like ice cream producers) that doesn’t exist for beef fat.

I have observed that the cost of a ladies’ swimsuit tends to be inversely proportional to the quantity of materials used in its construction ...

In many cases it’s about control. (IMO)

Thanks for your reply. She was actually the one who walked. Our youngest was a senior in High School - one would have thought maybe a few months wait, would have been in order. Water under the bridge, now ;)

Try pricing eyeglass frames! Same principle. Less material, more flimsy, more money.

For the present, the only glasses I need are the kind sold on a revolving rack in the drug store (+2.5) ... and I can find no rational relationship between price and construction.

I don’t think I’ve ever SEEN 70/30 hamburger.

You probably have, but thought it was some ground meat other than beef. It's rather light colored because of all the fat.

Very intelligent take, IMO.

There are too many husbands who are little boys when it comes to dealing with wives, who can be a handful...

But, short of injury, they are the same people that married. Show some freaking backbone, and speak up!

I assess ground beef on a “Dollars per pound of meat” basis. The “fattiest” always wins because the US Consumer has been “educated” to believe that saturated fat is “bad”.

Fat=Flavor

Don’t expect your spouse to read your mind or to have the same idotisyncrcis as you do. I am an uptight foodie. He is not. I recognize differences in lettuces, and other types of greens and he does not.

I tried visual clues. Asked him to bring home some scallions since he worked next door to the grocery store. Sent him a picture so he would know what to look for. He brought home leeks. We still laugh bout that.

Laughter is better than anger.
