Documents: Girl, 15, who shot brother, 16, suffered abuse

WHITE SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) -- After suffering years of abuse at home, a 15-year-old girl broke into her parents' locked room through a window, took their gun while they were away and shot her 16-year-old brother to death, authorities said.

Strange story. The Mother admits that the girl had been locked in her room for as long as 20 days for misbehaving. I think there is more to this story and it will come out.

The mother discovered the siblings having sex in 2011? When the girl was 11/12 and her brother was 12/13?

Police documents released Wednesday said the girl's uncle was convicted of molesting her in 2010. They also say the children's mother discovered the siblings having sex in 2011. Authorities and child welfare officials investigated, but no one was charged.

This looks like one sick family. And another failure for the child welfare authorities.

I read this story at the DailyMail and it made my head spin. I pray for these people and the rest of us, too. The world is off-kilter.

Florida does seem to have more than its share but this insanity is everywhere. Some days are too sad and we’ve had a few ‘some days’ back-to-back, they seem more frequent, too. I keep trying to figure out if it is happening more or if we just now have the ability to know more about the world around us and it is stressing us. I can almost realize in small part how Adam and Eve must have felt when they realized their shame.

I suspect when the whole story comes out it won’t be a simple case of incest, but the brother pushing himself on her.

And now the “authorities” will likely charge her in order to get her to sign something that says she promises not to sue the state in exchange for dismissal of all charges.

Wouldn’t be surprised. Parents have a hard time accepting their child is capable of sibling abuse. Often it gets ignored till it can’t be.

Several people suggested this possibility when the story first appeared. Not a surprise that they were right.
