The divisional playoff game between the Patriots and Ravens on Saturday evening at Gillette Stadium featured a number of bizarre and unbelievable twists and turns. Among them was a rarely seen strategy employed by Tom Bradys offense, one that helped the Patriots climb back to cut a 14-point deficit in half, and one that had Ravens head coach John Harbaugh furious on the sideline.
The strategy in question involved Bill Belichicks offense employing four offensive linemen instead of the standard five on a number of plays midway through the third quarter. Running back Shane Vereen lined up off the right side of the formation, and he declared himself an ineligible receiver. In essence, Vereen had become the fifth lineman, though with considerably different duties.

What do you make of this?
It was Brilliance and I hate Belichick.
LOL
So Jim Harbaugh learned to be whining bitch from his big brother?
So? Bootlegs are deceptive. On-side kicks are deceptive. As a matter of fact what is not deceptive in football offense?
Even though I hate Cheaterchik and the Patriots, it was a legal play. Deception is the point. I was pulling for the Ravens. I am not a Ravens fan, either. I simply hate the Patriots more. ;-)
As an aside, the Patriots have not won a Super Bowl since Cheatergate.
Check-Mate you sore loser!
as a ravens fan, i am dissappointed in harbaugh’s remarks... the defense should have stopped both plays.
harbaugh’s comments may have been directed at the officials who need to declare ineligibility to both teams... not just other officials.
that said, a very good game all the way to the final 4 seconds. i would have liked to have seen a ravens receiver break to the corner from the herd and catch the game winner, but it didn’t happen.
brady showed he was full of himself on several occasions
and i expect to see them trounced in the next game.
Harbaugh had no one to be “furious” with except himself and his own coaching staff.
A pump fake is deceptive. “Looking off defenders” by a QB is deceptive. I fake hand off is deceptive.
If there’s any confusion amongst the defense of personnel they always have the option to call timeout.
What a cry baby!
But he came up with some clever and absolutely deceptive plays that fooled the Ravens.
Sorry, Harbaugh, but Belichick outsmarted you and you come off looking incompetent and sounding like a sore loser.
” I hate Belichick.”
Being from the Cleveland area, so do I, and everyone I know!
Belichick is truly an evil genius.
For some reason he never showed that acumen when he worked for Art Modell.
Although he’s a lifelong learner.
Would you please be so kind as to name a couple?
Brady's a pompous jerk
that's what.
As a Ravens fan they needed to put the Pats away. They didn’t & they lost. The Ravens they need to bring more post season energy to their regular season.
Belichick has a slimeball persona, BUT any NFL coach will do whatever it takes to win!
