Daily Mail ^ | circa 2009 or before | Robert Lea

Russia cut gas exports to Europe by 60 per cent today, plunging the continent into an energy crisis 'within hours' as a dispute with Ukraine escalated.

This morning, gas companies in Ukraine said that Russia had completely cut off their supply.

Six countries reported a complete shut-off of Russian gas shipped via Ukraine today, in a sharp escalation of a struggle over energy that threatens Europe as winter sets in.

Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Croatia and Turkey all reported a halt in gas shipments from Russia through Ukraine.

Croatia said it was temporarily reducing supplies to industrial customers while Bulgaria said it had enough gas for only 'for a few days' and was in a 'crisis situation'.

Gazprom Cuts Off Gas to Europe, accuses Ukraine of Siphoning
Thursday, 15 January 2015

Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian state energy giant Gazprom to cut supplies to and through Ukraine amid accusations, according to The Daily Mail , that its neighbor has been siphoning off and stealing Russian gas. Due to these “transit risks for European consumers in the territory of Ukraine,” Gazprom cut gas exports to Europe by 60%, plunging the continent into an energy crisis “within hours.”

For the life of me, I never could understand their reliance on Russia for something this important. For other trade, perhaps, but for something you must have for your populace of they die? In a way, we already saw a rush to buy in to this scheme. Well, Putin has finally played the card. I hope he gets stuck with 50 cards in this deck.

Checkmate. Mid-January - PERFECT TIMING.

I figured Putin was keeping his powder dry until the time was right. So, I guess it’s now up to Europe to take their mighty military into Russia and get the gas for themselves.

Oh yea, they deleted their military’s. So no dice there. I also doubt that we’re willing to send our troops into his buzz saw.

Well, there are a lot of trees in Europe - hopefully they also have a lot of chainsaws.

“What a great way to raise OUR energy prices...sell it to the Euros.”

No way to get U.S. gas to Europe.
Besides, Obama is about to issue an exec order that will destroy fracking in America, on Methane emissions and burn-offs.

“Screwing Europe isn’t going to buy the guy any points.”

Oh yea it will. Freezing tushies have a way of expediting things. First to go will be European sanctions...then US sanctions. After that, expect Europe to pay ransom money if they actually expect the gas to be turned back on.

Didn’t Russia also call in Ukraine’s debt?

Europe is JUST BURSTING with GREEN ENERGY. Let’s see how their solar panels do for the next 3 months...as winter really sets in.

Europe my FREEZE, but it will be a “sustainable” freeze.

Is the sentiment in the Alberta market along the lines of, oh, lookie, new customers? OTOH, Russia’s been froggy of late. All those imaginary little green men running around need imaginary little green vehicles to run around in....

Think bigger, and look at the whole game board.

The EU is already teetering, and about to start it’s own QE because things have gotten so bad, economically.

Now, Putin cuts off the lifeline to not only Ukraine, but gas supplies to the already weakened Southern EU countries. Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Croatia and Turkey all reported a halt in gas shipments from Russia through Ukraine.

Turkey is covered by last week’s agreement, but the weakest EU members, the one’s whose economies are teetering on the very edge, are not.

Putin runs this just as several different issues are coming together, all at once. Like everything else Russia has done, this is designed to peel off EU support for sanctions.

Do you think with Europe’s hands tied that this could lead to a complete hand over of the Ukraine?

When the USSR collapsed outsiders had high hopes that are now clearly wrong as Russia proves itself the enemy of civilization.

What we will see is what makes people great as they work together to deal with any such challenge just like during the Berlin blockade.

This move will only isolate Russia further, as Putin has brought back the Cold War so he can protect the $40 billion he stole.

Putin’s Way [mass murder, corruption, theft]

Hmmm, do any LNG tankers sail between southern Europe and Russia?

Have the Europe customers paid for Russian gas in advance?

Well, not to worry. The Greenies have already solved the energy problems.
