Good luck with the first homebrew! It’s a great way to spend time. I’ve been brewing since about 1985 and it’s never been boring.
What style did you brew?
What beer do you drink, Sam Adams?
“I feel sorry for people who don’t drink. When they wake up in the morning, that’s as good as they’re going to feel all day.” -—Dean Martin
I always considered that an old-wives tale, intended as a scare tactic to get men to stop drinking beer. A variant of that tale is that beer contains female hormones and causes men to grow breasts. Well if that were true, I'd be in 44-D cups by now!
Smoked white king salmon and Alaskan Amber. Oh yeah.
Mostly imports. Pilsner Urquell, Spaten and Sam Smith are three of my mainstays. I also like the Boston Beer Co. offerings, hence the screen name.
As was City Tavern.

I was fortunate to eat (and drink!) there on a trip about 10 years ago.
City Tavern was a stop during Paul Revere’s midnight ride. I like to think he stayed long enough for a pint ;)
After the second beer it's better to switch to another health product: a cigar or a smoking pipe, which for some reason are correlated with great wealth, good looks, and a longer life.
This a great read:
The search for God and Guinness: A biography of a beer that changed the world.

I had no idea of the impact the Guinness family had on Irish history, industry, and culture (particularly religion) until I read this. Fascinating stuff.
Beer - it’s not just for breakfast anymore...
Even my militant "anti-smoking in the house" wife likes that smell.
Thanks.
Cheers!
They didn’t list “makes you less homicidal”... maybe that’s just me.
It helps ugly women get laid.
I’m actually brewing a mead this time around, but my hops are on the way and I’ll be brewing beer as well. My wife is already starting to get worried, what with the 3 containers of mead and my plans for the beer...I’m looking forward to the whole experience!! Perhaps if I do any good with this, I’ll give my moonshine recipe a go.
One of my favorites.
Thanks
Who needs a six pack (abs) when you can have a keg.
Your wife should be encourage you brewing; I’ve never met an unhappy brewer.
My first mead was made with ginger. After about 8 months I popped one open. Yikes! A bit medicinal. Fast forward 10 years: I was at my sisters for a holiday meal and noticed a familiar, dusty old bottle in their wine rack. It was the mead! It had a gift those many years before. We opened it and it was wonderful.
OK, time to star planning the next brew. A Belgian strong golden ale, aka a Duvel clone. Yum.
To drink beer is an act of patriotism. :)
It’s a great hobby. And you end up with beer!
